Neverending Snow by LittleThor

[raw]
made by LittleThor for LD31 (COMPO)
Hi there!
Here is my second contribution to Ludum Dare!
My weekend production is an adventure game where you have to find clues to stop this never-ending snow.

---

Controls : mouse only.
Tips :
-Speak to people and read stele to find clues
-*spoiler* Try to do things with camp fires ...
-*spoiler* Try to find a very precise location with ints...

---

As we had to work on a game with everything on one screen, I had the idea to use an unusual screen size. That's why I chose the very very big vertical screen to make sure you'll feel the ascension of the snowy moutain!

Hope you'll enjoy playing this stuff! And please don't hesitate to post comments about my game!

Love the art style! I like the tall layout, too. I couldn't quite figure out what to do, though.

The tall skinny screen is an interesting way to ascend a mountain while keeping it all "on one screen". Very creative. I didn't understand what was going on in the game, but the snow as pretty.

A game with a very particular mood and the art style is just great 5/5
I find it to be innovative, but at the same time not that much "fun", maybe because it is so unfamiliar.
The very special game resolution is interesting but inconvenient. Nonetheless I am very happy to see someone experimenting with non-standard resoultions.

In the end: a special game that got me interested and lead me to write this rather long comment, well done! ;)

Wow, that was really amazing! The art style is fantastic and your use of the theme is perfect. The vertical space was well used and the cryptic signs really set the atmosphere. It was a bit weird knowing where I could click since the character moves not quite on the path, but I managed to navigate just fine after some clicking around. Lots of potential to expand this into different kinds of landscapes! Amazing stuff!

Thanks everyone for your comments!
I didn't want to make heavy in-game explanations about what to do because I wanted a quite minimalist game, but I now realize it's a little hard to undestand ^^' sorry for that!
For those who will read this comment and want to try complete the game : you have to interact with environment, especially campfires (the goal is to turn off all lights in the right order).

I keep getting "Bad File Length" as an error message, when I try to load it in Web Player on Firefox :/ It's a shame, because this game looks great!

Cool concept!
What do i have to do after all the flowers are pressed in the right order? I'm stuck :(
I really liked Sound Effects and Graphics, but scrolling the screen was a bit hard as the wheel of the mouse is not considered once I click inside the Unity Web Player!
Cool game overall! ^^

Love the graphics and the big window, couldn't get very far, a bit too cryptic for me :D Anyway good job.

Wish I could progress further (sry!), but either way I LOVE what you've achieved here with the art style + atmosphere (and clever use of theme). Great job! An easy 5/5 for mood and graphics.

Nice game with a really great mood! But it is hard to understand. Well, I've got stuck after clicking all of those fires in the right order. Btw, add in your game description for users to use control+mouse wheel, because it really sucks going up and down when I have to click outside the game for my mouse wheel to work.
Anyway, pretty nice game!

Love the art style and the creative screen format, but I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do and it's not obvious which objects can be interacted with.

I love the art style, also sound effects are great. You can feel the atmosphere, especially with that resolution. I've actually made it to the end! :)

As a fellow mountain-in-game maker whose game people complained was too big in the webplayer: Kudos to you! This looks really cool, but I had no clue what I was meant to do after the fires. Then the fires came back...

I didn't get very far either. But I'm probably just too impatient ;)
The graphics and by extension the mood of the game are great though. Good job!

Very beautiful minimalist game. I liked the approach of making it an unusual resolution, it really fits the game. The puzzle is very abstract though, causing quite some frustration.

Hi there. Looks great but couldn't find anything to do, except look. Like the wind sound too, and angular snow effect.

Nice art style! I'll have to add my voice to those who found it unclear what to do or how to play, but I loved the atmosphere and it's an interesting interpretation of the theme. :)

It seems like you'll easily port your game to iphone 7plus resolution! xD

I loved the artwork! It's so elegant and minimal, really exceptional.
The gameplay is a bit cryptic - which is good to a certain extent, the puzzle could be explained - or hinted - in-game.
The mood is a combination of mystery and zen, with sound effects enhancing it perfectly.
