Smash N Bash by 5k0d

[raw]
made by 5k0d for LD31 (JAM)
Welcome to Smash N Bash,

Aim for some alien and smash the Ball as hard as you can!
Try to catch some coins and buy upgrades such as "Critical Hit" or "Faster Charge".

Enjoy!

PS: This is our first LD-Jam submit and we ran out of time to finish the game...we had some nice stuff in mind like combo's and even a boss fight...we apologize ;-(...but the chances are high that we take this post-ludum so be prepared for more Smashin!

We have not posted an "I am in", so we do it now!!
We are using:

pickle, paint.net, gimp

Controls:

Move Mouse to Aim (on Android with the right thumb)
Hold Left MouseButton to Charge
Release MouseButton to Shoot / Hit
Hover over coins to pick them up
Press Escape to get back to the MenuScreen

It's a cool game with nice ideas. The shop had a bug for me where I could infinitely buy upgrades without the needed coins. - @Foxelbox

Good game, though I noticed that you can buy upgrades even if you don't have any coins. :)

Cool ideas! I especially like how you can get rallies by hitting the same ball over and over (is there a reward for doing this? if not, there totally should be!), and I like how collecting coins with the cursor forces you to change your aim, so you can't sit there shooting at the same sweet-spot over and over. The bonus UFOs are a nice touch too :)

Is it just me or does the shop seem a little bit broken? I had noticeable bonuses for the first shot but they went away afterwards, and also I could keep investing points even after I had zero coins.

I had fun with it at first, I liked the submarine (?) enemies, but there's nothing stopping you from buying upgrades when you have no coins :p I upgraded my speed to 100 and the ball never came back!

I was able to buy infinite stuff with zero coins. dont know why. game is not bad, in fact it is good without the bugs, but I wish it had some better graphics and Music.

Neat game! It was satisfying smacking the ball into the enemies. It would be cool to see a combo feature.

Funny to play, I like the way I feel stronger with new items. There is some polish to do but the game is already cool !

Cool idea, and some nice variation in enemies! Upgrades were satisfying to purchase (though unfortunately, I couldn't buy them for free like others :().

Hehe, this was pretty darn fun, once you get the better upgrades. I think the beginning is a little too unfair, especially with the low coin spawn rate.

At one point, I was bashing enemies like crazy until the game stopped spawning them (or at least, took a very long time to). Perhaps you might want to increase the spawn rate when your character is more powerful?

This is a pretty fun game. At first I was a bit confused by the batting mechanic, but once I realized that you could hit the baseball based on its proximity to you the game became surprisingly fun! I only wish there were some kind of combo mechanic, I think that getting big points for multi-hits would be awesome :D

Unfortunately, there's a game breaking bug, and I'm not sure how I triggered it... But after I upgraded to 11/13/11 stats the baseball stopped being launched when I tried to hit it :(

This was pretty great. I love games like these. I'd love to see an improved version, and I'll definitely try the Android version at some point. Upgrades make it so much better, and I'd love to see like some kind of combo system.
I really hope you polish this. :D

Hmm fixing bugs is nice, and you are indeed allowed to fix any game-breaking bugs... but this is a pretty long list of patches and I don't think some of them were actually game-breaking.

Does the version I played really represent a 48h job? I don't think so. Unless you convince me otherwise, I won't rate that entry.

*72h job, didn't see it was a jam entry. But my point still stands

Im sorry but we just couldn't stand the fact that some of the (already implemented) Animations and Stuff where not spawning / triggering properly also i thought we are allowed to fix small bugs that people point out for us ;-( But i can assure you that NO CONTENT was added Post-Jam Code Fixes Only!
