Bridge Troll by Parappa

[raw]
made by Parappa for LD31 (JAM)
Bridge Troll is a very small quest style adventure inspired by old DOS games. Unfortunately, this jam project didn't turn out particularly well. I could make excuses, but such is life. :) I look forward to the next Ludum Dare!

Okay, i feel frustrated at the lack of direction in this game, i mean you say type commands in form of verb or noun and all those i tried return with "i don't know *insert all words*. Is this called bridge troll because it trolls gamers? or am i missing something.

I dont know how to play your game haha

I could make the others run away with "kick man", "steal man", "punch man", "extort man", "kill man"... but couldn't find commands that did anything else. Some prompts/hints would be nice, but otherwise, I like the mix of old-school GUI and text-based commands!

Very awesome concept! Somehow I was able to finish it :D

I think this is all because I typed "speak" and he said "I don't know how to speak" so naturally my brain went, love, I don't know how to love...I don't know why this seemed sadly funny to be so I tried it....anyways after kick some old dudes and punching air and them embracing by new friends I know have that old school techno song "What is Love? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more!" stuck in my head!

Anyways, I digress. This is really cool what you did, deals very much like scribblenauts. Keep up the good work!

This game tickled something and made me rate it way higher than the logical part of my brain wants to (and I didn't even discover the "ending"). Great job, it was enjoyable :).

You've got a good framework here, it just needs a little more guidance, like...what can we do, what are we SUPPOSED to do? Good start, though! (I like the retro graphics and font, heh.)
