Intense Wizardry by yokcos700

[raw]
made by yokcos700 for LD31 (COMPO)
You are a wizard who kills people and snowmen for unknown reasons. It is intense sometimes.

If you're looking for a win condition, there is none. But perhaps you could get a sense of victory if you use the final spell. It summons an army of sorts to fight for you. I say again: Use the final spell to 'win'.

Nice little shooter, beautiful lighting. Reminds be of GTA2 for some reason :)

"Why are you doing this wizard?" BECAUSE YOU ARE SHOOTING AT ME >:(

Game ramps up a little too slowly, and movement/shooting are just a little too sluggish. Everything else is solid.

Nicely done. The lighting was quite good.

Fun gameplay. Pretty hard. Noticed there were some powers that were locked. Not sure how to unlock those. Extra humor points for the Sips_ reference.

Nice controls, though collision on projectiles were a bit frustrating. I would like a bit more leeway for my projectiles colliding with walls. Fun game though.

Also, on start up the first time I encountered an error and had to abort.

Nice looking, simple. I do really enjoyed. There is a bug, when you are next to a wall, you can't shoot fireball.

I haven't ever played or even looked at GTA2 before now. I kind of want to play it now.

chaosed0:
Odd. I feel that the game ramps up perhaps too fast. Few minutes in and enemies are dealing 3-4 damage in one shot and I can only take 3 hits from them.

DavidVisscher:
Thanks!

SuperPokeunicorn:
Killing enemies sometimes drops spells. Sometimes these spells will be the locked ones (Freezing spell, cockroach spell, etc.)

Jupitron:
Also thanks!

Sorry about the fireball/wall interactions. I thought it was more important to make the guns noisy.
I guess that error is what happens when you try to divide by zero D: Can't do anything about it now, and it seems the error you were given wasn't massively specific on where the problem is.

I did get a fatal error first time it ran. But after that it was a nice little game, more functionality would have been lovely!

Nicely polished game. I like the magic-gun combination, forces you to play with care. Spells are cool.

Fun core gameplay, and the lighting looks really good. I would agree with a previous commenter that slightly faster unlocks would be cool. I dug it. Nice Job.

I really enjoyed this one once I started getting into it. I didn't get all the spells, but once I got into the flow of shooting guards, bombs and turrets, it's definitely something I'd love to get into more!

The only issue I had was being able to initially tell that the walls were walls, and the floor was floor. A little pixelated foreshortening will fix that right up! :)

Thank you for sharing. :D

Fun game. Health didn't drop however, so I ended up dying sooner than was probably intended.

I loved the shadowing and lighting in the game, it would be good to see it there all the time, since it looks great and also clearly indicates when enemies can see you, and leaves some mystery about the layout of the level. It's also really satifying firing a ton of fireballs and lighting the room up. It would be good to have some indicator or feedback to show when enemies will react to sounds you make.

Please, see my game again (I explained some things in my comment).
Also Multyplayer would be good in Post-compo (it's just a suggestion).
