The Crane by garat

[raw]
made by garat for LD31 (JAM)
Simple indirect action puzzle game. Move the origami crane through the environment to his "home".

There is no sound or music.

Plan to continue work on this past the compo/jam deadline, as I'm having quite a bit of fun with it. Not certain I'll stick with the fixed camera though - feel like I miss a lot of otherwise fun detail.

FIXED - I had messed up my upload. It's a zip windows download now. Sorry for the lack of hosting. Baby steps.

Instructions:
- Click on the play area opposite of the direction you want the crane to move in. The idea is that wind is blowing the paper crane in the desired direction.
- Get him home, avoid the traps.

Can't run the game, you need to upload the data folder.

confirmed - game is now runnable :) I keep getting stuck at the edge of the screen though - it's impossible to move away as that would involve clicking outside the screen. I did manage to win in the end - the superpowered windmill made it quite challenging which I enjoyed.

The idea is pretty nice and the controlls work well, except when the crane gets stuck to the edge of the screen. Maybe you could make an invisible border so it can only come so close to it.

This was actually pretty fun once I got the hang of it! Wish it was a bit longer.

Hi. I think it would have been easier to control if you had lands around the edges. Its difficult to get the crane to move to the right when its on the left edge of the screen. The crane model seems to be hanging upside down for me. Except for controls that are a bit weird I think you have all the element of a game, obstacles and a goal. I think a rubber ducky might have been a better subject than a paper crane :P Add some more levels, play with the camera, have some more fun :) Thanks

Thanks guys! Actually, what's funny, is the proper map had collision blocks and land in place, but when I finally was far enough along to build and play - about an hour before the end of the compo, I had JUST built my map. Simply ran out of time. Losing Saturday was disastrous from a completion perspective.

Here's an in-editor shot of it, so you can see what the intent was from a collision plane perspective: http://imgur.com/OrwVuxT

Good concept, it's certainly a bit different from most games. The "getting stuck at the edge of the screen" thing is a bit infuriating though, happened multiple times and I had to restart the game two or three times becaseu of it.. :)
