Mind Words by leffe108

This is a simple mind game.

I didn't got a lot of time, but I wanted to try to create a screen reader compatible game. It works both visually and has been tested with NVDA (free screen reader for Windows) in combination with Firefox.

Really cool to make a game compatible with a screen reader.

It's an interesting game idea! I wish there were more words!

Thank you for comment. I agree that the game content is a bit short. It could probably use a bit faster progress or some way to skip to next word.

I did post some details on how the game was coded to make it work with screen readers on the blog:

I'm so bad at memory games... It could use a skip button for sure.

Pretty barebones, but I was surprised by how unique and interesting the concept is. Great work!

I like the fact that the game is compatible with screen readers. It could do with a faster pace or more content, though.

Neat little puzzle idea, I wish the words went by a bit faster though. Pretty cool though.

Very simplistic, but very entertaining. Not much content, though still quite a solid entry. The overall concept it brilliant and this should definitely be developed further!

Nice concept. There seems to be a couple bugs. For words "screen -> is" I collected 0 where I should have collected 1, "a -> canvas" collected 1 where i should have gotten 2, "a -> game" collected 2 where i should have colllected 1. I think those are the only ones.

Unique concept, maybe needs to tweak the speed of words a bit, but I think it is interesting and fun.

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

hoqjed:
The game compare the last collected word with the word you collect. I think the text on the submitted version is a bit unclear about this. In the blog post I clarified this a bit better I think. (the blog post is linked to from my comment above)

There is one bug though. If the previously collected word contain multiple instances of the same character. For example two "e" and the second one contain one or more "e", then you get two points for "e", where I think you should only get one for "e" and then for any other character in the alphabet that is common, but not twice for the same character.

This is a cool word puzzle. If you don't need a word, it stays on screen for a long time though -- it would be good to be able to skip a word and/or just have the words stay on screen for a shorter amount of time.

Felt a bit like a learning game/brain training rather than a pure game for fun. But a beautifully simple concept. I think it could be refined a bit more into something more fun. Definitely some whiz bang sfx and sprites could help, along with some extra mechanics beyond the matching (for some reason I'm thinking of that Bookworm game). Nice job overall.
