I think it's a really good start! The power-ups arrived just as I started to get bored of the current mechanic which was very nice. The frozen ground seemed more intimidating than it really was, and I almost felt relieved seeing the big enemies because, even though their shots did way more damage, they were easier to dodge and didn't freeze ground. Enemy health bars would have been nice, as would knowing beforehand that the healing powerup was a full heal.
