Space Truckers by thristhart

[raw]
made by thristhart for LD30 (COMPO)
Play as a space trucker with a little bit of product and a large desire for more! Trade, gossip and destroy aliens from all sorts of planets.

Controls: Keyboard/mouse (ask about piloting on your home planet)
Press F to add a waypoint to a planet by name.

Everything in this game is seeded off your home planet's name. Therefore, if you want to have the same experience, just use the same starting planet name!

If you find a starting name that's particularly fun, please share it in the comments! I'd love to hear about what kind of stuff you run into.

As standard, should only work in Chrome and Firefox, maybe Safari.

edit: oh god, the seeding works differently on different browsers!
I am doing unholy things to javascript that are implementation-specific, apparently.
Please specify the browser you are using when you post a starting name!

If you want to start with weapons, try starting planet "Termiland". The planet Athland just to the right has a very weak military and can easily be bullied into giving you free food.

^That seed is on Chrome, btw! The Firefox version still starts you with weapons, but there's not an easily-bullied neighbor.

Average game. But I like it! If you add some more graphics - it's becoming one of most cool game!) Thanks!

Wow. You know what? I liked it. Do you plan on developing this further? Simple little diversion, but it had a bit of charm.

I would like for the speech bubbles to have a way to dismiss faster. I could see this being a fun little mobile game. I could check in while waiting in line at the store, make a few trades/bully some planets and then leave the app when it's my turn in line.

I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to interact with any of the planets. I tried practically every on key on my keyboard and button on my mouse and I couldn't get anyone to respond to anything. I didn't rate it, because I couldn't really play.

That's very strange! It may be because you are using a browser that doesn't support pointer lock, or perhaps you are disallowing pointer lock. There's a bug I didn't get a chance to fix wherein you cannot input mouse events without allowing pointer lock.
