These Cosmic Chains by ploogle

made by ploogle for LD30 (COMPO)
"I tear on the leash that keeps me contained and controlled.
Let me go, I want to break free and fight my way out of this
hole. One last hope: to rise and break away above the faded
line, way beyond the ties that bind." - Alter Bridge

Luna and Terra have been bound by cosmic chains and sentenced to death by supernova. They must escape, together, without breaking this chain.

WASD controls Luna.
IJKL controls Terra.

Hey I know you! Cool game, I love the music and I especially like the death quotes. After escaping the initial burst, though, it seems like some of the asteroids stop spawning and you can get pretty far away from the sun. My only suggestion would be to make it a bit faster. Nice job!

Great concept. You took connected worlds quite literally and it turned out to be a pretty legit game :)

I love it, absolutely fantastic!
However, it seems one can break the game by just pushing Terra ahead, since it will push everything out of the way.
Still great though, especially good job on the music!

Huge fan of the music, especially the way it screeches to a halt when you mess up. Bravo!

Simple take on the theme results in a pretty fun game. :) The music was great and the quotes were a nice touch!

My only complaint is that it's a tad too easy, though the concept is actually quite interesting and fits the theme well. Nice work!

I liked it :)

Controls didn´t work anymore after the game was in the background, but that might be a Unity Webplayer problem.

Pretty simple, but cool concept! I found a simple solution to stay alive forever, but a way to work around it would be to give the player a goal to move towards. Other than that, fun little game!

Oddly soothing. I was expecting a very frustrating QWOP-like game and it wasn't!

Interesting concept! And the background music is funny too :) But I found the angle of how the asteroids come is a bit wired...

Interesting take on the theme. I think some progress markers would be nice, just to let the player know they are getting somewhere. I kept flying back to the sun to make sure it was still back there!

WAY TOO LITERAL, 11/10 IGN

For real, I'm still laughing on your theme usage. Great job. :D

Really really nice entry. I didn't quite get what was the condition for chain-breakage. So maybe some indicator on the chain to show the forces. That would assist the player in learning to avoid breaking the chain.
Other than that, a really great beginnings on the audio (as far as I got to hear), as well as fantastic juice and visuals in being brought into the game.
The way the chain almost looks like those cheap plastic toy-chains just heightened the focus on its fragility in a nice way.

The music isn't bad and the earth/moon take on the connected worlds theme is great. I like the quotes when you die but since the text is black, you can't see it unless you are near the sun. I haven't escaped yet but I'm still trying.

I really like this! The death quotes are a cool addition, the game is quite fun, the graphics are cute, and the interpretation of the theme is pretty spot-on. Would recommend!

I like this allot. Remembering which hand controlled which planet was tough for me, but doable. I like the visuals (especially the burn-up-in-the-sun effect), and the music is really nice.

Is it possible to lose? I kept going for a couple of minutes, the music restarted, felt like there's no challenge.. am I missing something?

Reminded me a lot of QWOP style games and the audio was pretty awesome, especially the slow down death effect.

The death quotes are great. Once the sun leaves the screen it's a bit hard to tell how close it is. Also when you are running away you can't see that far in front of you either. The asteroids being attracted to the Earth was a nice surprise. Camera issues aside it's a nice game. Also nice music!

A nice little game. I really liked the quotes and the music. The basic game idea would be a solid foundation for a coop game. One suggestion: A goal or an indicator of progress (like distance as sort of a highscore) would be nice. Good job overall!

There's nothing really bad about it, but it's not really pushing any boundaries. Reminds me of an old arcade game I used to play that was basically asteroids but 2 player with connected ships. A goal would be nice though.

Those damn asteroid! get lost already...
I last only 1min tops.
Nice use of the theme.
The longest quote fade to quickly so don't have the time to fully read them

Nice entry. The controls take some time to get used to, but afterwards it flows pretty well. A high score table would be a nice addition, I'd like to know how well other people do.

The game feels really epic with the soudntrack and the galaxy background, too bad I suck at this XD. It took me a while to figure what I had to do and I'm not even sure I succeeded =').
Otherwise, an interesting concept. A bit too short but interesting.

One of my favourites so far! LOVE the soundtrack, really interesting mechanic and certainly nailed the theme - what's the backstory with the chains?! The quotes lift the entire experience, a great touch

We played this two-player with one person controlling each world and it worked out really well! I wish the starscape was more noticeable to help me feel like I was moving when I got away from the sun. The chain physics looked great, though the collision was a little hard to predict at the ends near the planet. Nice job!

Very nice little game with strong basic gameplay. I didn't get terribly far into it, but I did find the controls were interesting and the gravity added a lot to the mechanic. I especially like the physics on the chain, but the collision was rather unforgiving.

Some really nice touches here: the music and the slow-down effect when you fail, the excellent death-quotes and the planet-connecting chain. Great stuff!

Not sure I missed this until now - really fun (and funny). The Two Chainz quote actually made me laugh. Audibly. This would be really fun on a gamepad with dual sticks, actually. Nice one!

My first run was pretty short: "So this is the ...intro? What is that timer doing there? Hmmmm... nice music. Aaaand I died in the sun." :D

Simple concept, that can also easily be played as a multiplayer game^^ My only gripe is, that apparently the meteroids only spawn on one side of the sun, just going to the other side prevented them from spawning.
