In comparison to the mario and sonic speedy assassins, here you are the tank, letting enemies come to you and timing your attacks. The physics had a really strong feel; the drones spiralling away from bullets is a particularly nice touch, though the inability to shoot through the health drops the enemies leave meant that fighting multiple drones at once was a little problematic. The puzzles themselves were a little bit of a chore considering the solution is easy to see and difficult to execute, and failure meant slogging through the whole level again. If you were to continue with this project, I would reccommend longer levels with checkpoints to overcome this problem. I particularly liked the part where you need to hold space to keep your momentum through a narrow tunnel to bounce out the other side. It had a sort of portal feel to it. If you added more sections like this, I can imagine this shaping up into an extremely interesting and engaging platformer!"}],"images":["ld30\/8500-19f221592584808e4567a312e5f9e7cd.jpg","ld30\/8500-b412417699a6778b4b40f45b5824befa.jpg","ld30\/8500-163171b9d70e5ecd7fc0810494ff7508.jpg","ld30\/8500-d318c87b5b359551409420b88aad5f60.jpg","ld30\/8500-d45392dc126abca86e06254a205debe8.jpg"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/l9gosm4dz9eopzl\/Potential-WilliamBundy-LD30-jam.zip?dl=0","text":"Windows \/ Mono"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"17039","g_author":"8500","g_event":"LD30","g_eventkey":"24","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"17068","g_title":"Potential","g_status":"UCHK1","g_place":"99999","g_commentcount":"1","g_site2_node_id":"0","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":[],"node":null,"orig_images":["http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/375043\/8500-shot0.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/375043\/8500-shot1.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/375043\/8500-shot2.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/375043\/8500-shot3.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/375043\/8500-shot4.png-eq-900-500.jpg"],"text":"Climb, shoot, and bounce your way through 2.5 levels of not being related to the theme at all.\r\n\r\nPotential is a platformer based around the idea that you can preserve your potential energy when falling. This manifests itself by being able to bounce to the same height from which you fell. Combine with an almost inability to jump and a deep hole becomes less treacherous than a bump in the road.\r\n\r\nAlso, there are robots that try to shoot at you. You can shoot them.\r\n\r\nControls: \r\nWASD for movement\r\nGet close to ladders and hold W to climb them.\r\nSpace to bounce when you hit the ground.\r\nHit tab while in the air to only bounce halfway up when you hit the ground and are holding Space.\r\nEnter to shoot.\r\n\r\nMade with C#, SDL2-CS, (modified) Farseer Physics, and Json.NET. Theoretically works on all platforms with Mono, SDL2, SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer, SDL2_ttf, libpng, mpeg, libfreetype2, and probably some others. Look at the list of .DLLs for reqs, and I'll try to get Linux\/OSX versions out soon.\r\n","title":"Potential"}
