The Connection by jas7229

[raw]
made by jas7229 for LD30 (COMPO)
My first Ludum Dare entry! :D

Two siblings have been separated into 2 different worlds! Luckily, one has the ability to fly and go find the other, while the other can take care of obstacles in the way through the special connection they share. Will you help them reunite together?

I started out with graphics, moved on to music~ then finally got around to some gameplay and programming...which probably shows a little, haha. Used Inkscape, Audacity/Garageband, and Stencyl.

Overall I'm super happy with the result though, especially having taken liberal sleeping/eating/real life breaks :P

Please give it a try and let me know what you think!

After figuring out my favored hand/mouse/keyboard combination (love games that make me rethink where to put my hands to get the best score) I managed a score of 60 (I also love games that make you want to brag about your score). What a great game. The intro is incredible, followed up with a fun & beautiful game that is quick to pick up but will be a challenge to master. The music selection is the cherry on top.

Cool game. Interesting way to add gameplay to flappy bird. I feel like people who've worked w/ cash registers will have an advantage!

It looks good. Music is too short, after some time its really annoying.

The title screen was nicely done and the colour choices worked really well. Liked the concept and the way you had to think about the two different concepts at once. Clever game.

Nice idea, I really like the use of dual controls. It's really tough during the narrow parts, I always get pushed off screen! Well done!

Gorgeous and fun. Like the intro. Nice way to make me exercise two different parts of my brain at the same time.

Awesome graphics, the music was nice, but way too loud. I liked the gameplay, but I was pretty bad at it. ^^

The control scheme is pretty unique, had to switch to the line of numbers after a while. I only got 23 though :(

I enjoyed this overall, I would probably have done better if I had a numpad. I really like it when games have challenges that extend into the meatspace.
(I'm the guy who wrote about this on PoemsAboutGames.tumblr.com btw)

I like the overall concept. It runs very smoothly for the amount of content you included (enemies, fireballs, obstacles, gates, flapping and numpad). I did not pick up too much on the theme. However, I think you could have used two game modes at the same time as connecting two worlds or even two game archetypes being connected.

The graphics are fantastic (especially the title screen) and the gameplay is good; too bad it is difficult without a numpad. But it is something I would play on a touchscreen, if it has some more modes.

A simple, but really well thought out game that manages to handle performing two separate tasks simultaneously in an intuitive way. I'd like to see this expanded with other tasks utilising the keypad, such as sums. Well done! :)
