Raptor Ball by Skaz

[raw]
made by Skaz for LD36 (JAM)
Once upon a time, before History, man had to survive terrible predators, like the fearsome velociraptor.

Classical wooden clubs were not enough advanced to vanquish the savage beast, so Man invented the Raptor Ball, an ancestral technique of combat. Instead of using the club to hit the raptor, which a method nobody ever survived, some genius used their massive caveman clubs to hit ROCKS instead. The rock would then fly and sometimes hit a raptor on the head, stunning it. All was left to do was to hit the raptor with the club from up-close before it came back to it's senses.

Be one of those brave ancestors of mankind, steal the 3 eggs in each of the 8 levels of Raptor Ball to make the most epic omelet of pre-History, and don't get yourself eaten!

Arrows to move and jump.
Space to use your club.
R to restart level
Escape to quit.

Right now the level just start again from the first if you finish the last one.
Thanks for playing!

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Slick spritework! Good, basic gameplay with enough variation. Although the last level has lots of lag and that one raptor in the grass was pretty cheap.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the sprites, as usual I spend a huge chunk of my time doing those. And as usual, level design is the last thing I do, so the cheap tall grass raptor is what I end up doing after to few sleep. Fun fact, I revisited the whole game minutes ago... That raptor got me too.

THAT cheap.

Fun game with nice graphics, liked the caveman setting and the explanation for why you couldn't use your club on the raptors and had to hit the rocks to stun them. Thought that was a nice touch.
