Gears by danilafe
My first time participating in LD!
Gears is a pretty difficult prototype game about an ancient computer! Based on the Antikythera mechanism*, the computer in this game controls some parts of a temple. It can break and create walls, move around a "cursor" and even kill intruders! However, the workings of the computer are complex, and you may be the only person capable or controlling it. Are you up for the challenge?
On startup, the game contains instructions on how to play.
I didn't get a tutorial level in, so you'll have to read the instructions to figure out what to do.
*I have done 0 research on the culture surrounding this ancient contraption.

Or should be, it deletes the gear under the cursor.
A little odd that the copper gears look like there's a progression from 1 to 4, but they end up just going in different directions.
Could be really cool to introduce gears over time so you don't overload the player with all of them at once.
To be honest, most of my time went into rendering the god damned lava tiles so that they change based on lava around them.
Seriously.
I wanted to make it to Compo, but if that wasn't my goal, tutorial levels would definitely be necessary. Thanks for the feedback!
Has potential, and is interesting, reminds me of assembly.
And, for the other players, you can delete gears with backspace, not with the delete button.
