The Great Escape by Mieeh

[raw]
made by Mieeh for LD36 (COMPO)
This game was made for Ludum Dare 36. More specific the compo part of the jam. The game wad made under two days with the first day being spent on coming up with an idea then making some pixel art and the second day was spent on developing the game.

The game is pretty simple. In it's core it's a plattformer. The main mechanic of the game is that it is different in some way everytime you play. The character has a random name and a random little backstory that's changed everytime. The map is also somewhat randomly generated.

Known Issues:
The hitboxes is a bit off
The game is overall kinda short(need longer levels and more obstacles)
Menu is empty
Background music is looping weird

Good job making all the art, music and code in under 48 hours :)
This is quite a tough platformer. The graphics are cute and do the job well. Also nice job on the procedural generation (in the backstory and map).

Hehe. How many character stories did you create?
I learned again that i hate to jump over a spike while beeing on a moving platform.
Well done. :)
I will never trust ghosts, dragons and old ladies again... don't want to wake up in a nightmare of '1001 spikes' ;)

@btwj_ Thanks for the compliments! The procedural generation of the character was something I had in mind from the beggining but the procedural generation of the map was something I threw in last hour before finishing, I'm quiet happy with how it turned out! Thank you for playing!

@McMutton
Right now there's only four characters but I plan on adding alot more of them in the post-jam update. Thanks for giving the game a try!

Good work. Played about 10 times, got stuck on a clear platform twice (as though there was an invisible obstacle) had to run back and forth and jump a bit to free-up the sprite. Found it a bit too difficult and not sure where it links in with the theme of Ancient Tech.
