Underwater Flappy Alien by jitendragarg

[raw]
made by jitendragarg for LD29 (JAM)
So, I wanted to participate in main compo, but couldn't spend time this weekend. I spent just a couple hours to do a basic version of Underwater flappy bird. But, I couldn't find time to do my own art or make it playable by the compo's deadline.

Anyway, just for fun, here is a playable version of the game. It plays similar to flappy bird(couldn't do a designed level).

How to Play?
Just press space to float up. Alien drowns automatically, and your job is to keep it on the screen, navigating through simple obstacles. Obstacles include simple walls, fishes swimming towards you, and a weight block attached to a chain. Score is displayed at the top corner.

You can also collect coins to increase score by 500 points. Press Enter to restart.

The level is randomly generated, so no two (theoretically) games will ever be same.

Since I couldn't do any art, I had to use placeholder art. All placeholder art is created by Kenney. You can find more info about it on kenney.itch.io/. You can contact me for any thing at all, at jitendragarg@gmail.com.

Things to do (will do an updated version if there are more than 10 people interested in playing it)
3 designed level with full control over movement
Bullets to shoot down fish and other enemies
Animations (float up, drown, weight's chain, fish swimming etc)
Sounds, and a lot more sounds
A proper menu to at least play, pause and restart
More enemy types for timeless mode(suggestions welcome)
Modified sprite for player (alien underwater is stupid, right?)

So, download the file from skydrive, unzip it, and double-click on "UnderWaterFlappyAlien.exe". Hopefully, you will find it interesting enough to try.

High score - 6800ish. Interesting take on the flappy genre.

The collision effect is a nice touch!

Thanks Sudorossy and Acuity. I hope it was worth downloading for you guys. Oh, btw, it has full physics system of Unity behind it, not just simple collision animation.

BTW, Sudorossy, you scored higher than I ever did. :)
