I liked the visuals, but I found the mood lacking. I think even just the addition of some atmospheric music would have given it that extra oomph. I made myself replay it to see if I missed anything, but the only thing I found was the pickaxe and the noise it makes when you stand on it.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Giving the player a sense of mystery (perhaps being able to uncover things to progress to the end rather than stumble upon it) could be one direction to take it further."},{"author_name":"marccspro","author_uid":"26996","time":"Apr 30, 2014 @ 11:25am","epoch":1398856800,"text":"It's a nice game ! From the gameplay view it's just a maze, but as curious person I looked at the code and I'm impressed that it's only awt\/swing and custom renderer. Really nice job from technical view!"},{"author_name":"Prudiiarca","author_uid":"19692","time":"May 1, 2014 @ 6:22pm","epoch":1398968220,"text":"Thank you very much for the feedback. For me it is one of the most important aspects of ludum dare!\r<br\/>@Lizzip That's exactly why I am quite unhappy with the gameplay itself. I had no time to work it out because I used the few hours I wasn't stying to build up the engine and the map. I hope I will have finished my engine next time so I can spend more time on gameplay. It honors you you tried hard to find more in it...\r<br\/>@marccspro Of cause I could do that, but it's really messed up. I am going to make a small tutorial series about raycasting, so if you want to learn it, you should definitely look into my youtube channel (same name there) in a few weeks...\r<br\/>@rincewind_cz thanks alot. Help him to get back to his home!\r\nI ended up with the JAM again, because I had a lack of time due to studies. Nethertheless I am really proud of what I came up with. Concerning the problems I had last time I managed to finish a far more difficult project in less time.\r\nOf course this LD there were some issues too, e.g. I lost more than a half day with working out a concept, which I could not realize. So I changed to this smaller one. Moreover I am quite dissaffected with gameplay, graphics and sound, but as explained I couldn't work it out, thus it's ok.\r\nSummarizing: I love Ludum Dare for showing me my progress in learning game programming and for the nice and productive criticism I get through it's community. This way: Please leave a comment!","title":"OblivionMiner"}
