Mr. E by leo_p_mahon

made by leo_p_mahon for LD35 (JAM)
Mr. E has trapped a group of shapeshifters and non shapeshifters in a space loop. He needs to find the shapeshifters so he can put them down before his distraction field fails and they notice his presence.

Spot the shapeshifters, they only change in the dark. Then press W to jump and point and click to shoot the shapeshifters. You need to keep track of all of them because they will scatter when you jump. Make sure to time your jump well so the shapeshifters are positioned where you can shoot them.

Will rate and comment back, Looking forward to some feedback.

I really like the feel of the game- the art style combined with the chill jazz works together well! I think that tracking the shapeshifters in the later levels is a bit hard, especially when they walk off screen. Perhaps the people could 'bounce' back off the edges of
the screen?

On a side note, made a double kill with a single bullet XD

Great mood and a nice take on the theme. The animation and music were especially good, though I did find the game to be a little buggy at times: sometimes bullets don't seem to connect and you can run off the screen. Also, shapeshifters seem to disappear when they run off the screen during bullet time, so shots fired to intercept them off of the screen don't register.
Overall, good job, just needs a little extra polish on the mechanics. :)
(Also, trying to keep track of more than two shapeshifters at once melted my feeble little mind. :3 )

Clever game and a nice change of pace compared to some other submissions. The one thing I would like is to know how many I need to look for at the start of the level, sometimes it's hard to keep track of which ones you've found while looking for ones that might not be there.

This mood <3 Graphics are very lovely, the sound man... the sound is gorgeous, and the concept very clever, i'm in love with your game ! the only bad point to me is that it's pretty hard, but really one of my favorites here.

Great mood, lovely aesthetics, fun gameplay. I'd consider adding an option to end the slow-mo once you've finished shooting.

The feel is fantastic and I absolutely loved the slow-mo mechanic. I think it's a brilliant simple idea and you protrayed it beautifully. :)

Cool concept! I found it rather difficult to pick out the targets because there was so much movement but I mean, it'd be worse if it was too easy. It might be easier to catch the shifting if there was more than one color of person? They all just really blended together. It was pretty fun though, slow motion shooting feels badass..

I like the game, but the logistics of keeping track of so many people in such a tiny window is a little difficult.

It's a really interesting idea having the enemies be shapeshifters. Spotting and keeping track of them makes this feel a lot like a strategy kind of game, and the noir atmosphere created by the art and music is absolutely fantastic.

The style of the graphics is really nice - clean and desaturated. I was not expecting jumping to be that dramatic!

While I get that the shape shifting being subtle was part of the challenge, telling those poses apart was actually kind of hard for me! I think I would have preferred them changing body shape (taller/shorter/fatter/thinner) or colour.

This is such a clever game. The jumping up, mixed with slow motion, makes me feel like a bad ass! The music created a mood that fit the game perfectly, and the art style was clean, and polished. Good Animations too. Excellent work! :)

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

Love the slow motion concept, I think it would be an awesome addition to a much bigger game. The art and audio really set the mood. Good job!

WOW! it makes me feel excited and glad we had almost the same idea ... and it's okay because we executed it very differently... because of that, i had real fun playing the game!
good job on everything man... i love the mood and concept :D

THAT SLOW MOTION WHEN YOU PRESS W IS DOPE AS HECK!!! IT"S REALLY NICE! I LOVE IT :D

hmmm criticisms, hmmm... i can say one thing... the animation for the movement of character can still be improved and i think it's uncomfortably fast.. but it's real nice! GOOD JOB :D

I really liked the concept!
It seems so simple and easy but it gets under your skin quickly.
Awesome entry!

I think you should have the screen wrap around, so you don't lose track so easily, and the "shapeshift" was very subtle, but that i did like.
You should also slow down the character. on a screen that small, there's no reason they need to go that fast
