Enceladus by andreaswitzen

[raw]
made by andreaswitzen for LD29 (JAM)
First jam ever completed together with SlackBob!

The game is set in the great lake recently discovered beneath the surface of ice on the moon Enceladus of Saturn. The player controls a mini submarine designed to explore the lake and survey for minerals.

The scope of the game was initially quite large (surprise!) but as time progressed it got smaller and smaller, until there was no more time. Hence also the lack of sound.

We also wanted to focus more on the science (fiction) aspect of the game and include scientific discoveries, a progression system etc.

Made in Unity3D.

The font used is called Minecraftia by Andrew Tyler.

The base seems solid. I wish you had implemented the aspect of scientific discovery, which sounds interesting.
Is there a win condition? I either run out of fuel or die to those alien things. Congratulations on finishing your first jam game :)

@timtipgames Thank you! We might expand the game and include more of the original ideas and some sound and better graphics. You cannot win the game. The idea is that you go on until the sub runs out of energy. Like the rovers on Mars and alike.

I like games based around discovery :) Too bad you weren't able to implement more of the features you had initially in mind, because i was really stoked about the few lines of concept you wrote! I really hope you enjoyed your first LD!

I felt that the lack of audio sort of took away from the general gameplay. other than that it was nice

The idea itself is good but the actual game play is a bit tough, it's not only kinda choppy (which I assume is on purpose?) but it also is somewhat confusing. It has potential however to have some tweaks and be a much more fluent game.
