Death to the future! by Johan Blade

[raw]
made by Johan Blade for LD36 (COMPO)
It's the year 2253, and the zombie apocalypse finally happened! sadly they're only armed with ancient technology, but are you gonna let that stop you from wiping out humanity? No you're not! You're gonna command the undead and conquer the planet!

Select your unit type with 1 through 5 on the keyboard, then Place units by clicking on a tile, right click to remove.
When done placing your units click the play button to see if your army can finish the job! And don't worry if they can't, just press the stop button to and place some new, more competent zombies to do the job!

Can you beat the hardest difficulty with only one unit? No, of course not! But how many do you really need, to beat those squishy future people?

Aw kewl! This is actually real neat. If there were resource limits this could be challenging and more fun. Nice job! (P.S. I know the compo isn't technically over yet)

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Innovation: This was actually a pretty neat idea -- it's not too often that I see strategy games come out of LD.
Fun: Although placing the units and watching them battle was pretty fun there wasn't much more to the game past that. If you had something to provide some sort of challenge or progression that would help out a lot, I think.
Theme: Yep, ancient weaponry.
Graphics: The graphics were actually pretty decent! The main thing I'd work on is the UI buttons, which look a bit out-of-place when taken together with your pixel art sprites.
Audio: Next time try and add some sounds! Even if you only get to add a few basic ones I think it'll make a huge difference.
Humor: N/A
Mood: I think some simple background music would help out a lot!
Overall: Overall your game is really rough and might not even be properly called a "game" but it's definitely a cool idea! Besides adding some sort of real objective/progression, sounds would be number 1 for helping bring everything together.

Congratulations on another successful LD! I'd really appreciate it if you could leave me some feedback for my game as well. You can find it at: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-36/?action=preview&uid=7285.
