Pointless Game! by djdduty

[raw]
made by djdduty for LD28 (COMPO)
Made with nothing but WebGL and Dart standard features, then converted to js.

p.s. Unfortunately you won't be able to play this in firefox.... something about locking the mouse cursor with canvas doesn't work there, but it works great on every chrome browser I have tried!

I didn't finish and was JUST starting to pick up progress on actual game code, probably needed a few hours more, but I think it would have worked if I slept too. I spent way too much time laying the base code as I used dart, which I have NEVER used before and only just learned about ~2 hours before the compo started.

The theme was going to be incorporated as: You save a bunch of people, in the end you decide who to give the antidote, of which you only have one antidote, you get different endings depending.

It is still pretty fun to walk around... and it was my first EVER experience making games for web.

Well, it's definitely more of a prototype than a game, but hey, it's better than nothing! And it is kinda cool how the menu is part of the level.

The music is actually pretty good, but as you said, the game part is definitely unfinished.

yay dart! I've seen how hard it is to get something like this running, nice job!

Nice start! I also like the menu and with some more content this game could be fun. Maybe you find some time to make a post-compo version and realize all your ideas.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I was definitely aiming for way farther, but as I said, with lack of experience in dart it didn't go as planned. I might add on to it and get it to where I had planned, with fully animation and FUNCTIONAL entities either 2D billboards still, or 3D and ai, plus a ramp up on the level system along with some other stuff and it would be pretty sweet..

The weapon style is cool, music is pretty nice, and the wall menu is awesome. As noted by others though, a little light on content.

nice work getting a 3d world running! the mouse cursor capture had some issues on chrome but i got it working one time. perspective of camera seems very small/zoomed it, you could probably tweak that up a bit. otherwise a nice start - collision detection++

Great first try at making a web game. I should check Dart out some time soon. Seems to be getting popular. The 3D menu is good. Music works well - what did you use to compose it? I need to find better audio tools! :)

It ran a bit slow because of WebGL, but it has a nice tune :D
