Social Engineering - Level: Shapeshift by corupta

[raw]
made by corupta for LD35 (JAM)
Programs Used

GIMP + Script Fu (to make Graphics)
An iPhone App called Figure (to make the Music)
Eclipse IDE for Java (for Programming)

Developers

Ferishtah - (1/3 of the dialogues)
Checkmate - (1/8 of the dialogues)
CorupTa - (Rest of everything - dialogues, graphics, music, programming)

Everything was made from scratch. (Except, some of the jokes were found online.)

How To Play

wasd / arrow keys to move

q to open shapeshift menu.
(You must talk with people before being able to shapeshift into them.)

e to interact.

enter to choose - ws/updown arrows for next option

escape to leave interact/close shapeshift menu (sometimes leaving a talk may cause penalty tho)

If you get along well with the townsfolk, you take less attention.
If you don't you take more.
If your attention bar gets full you get busted by police.

Also, shapeshifting causes an +10 suspicion penalty for the previous character.

Stole as much as you can by using the info of the people.
Explore the triangle people's lives.

An advice:
Take notes about people and their info.

Spoiler:
Not all characters tell the truth.

Notes:
I forgot to add "/games/" in the link. My bad, I fixed it now. Sorry, for the delay.
Fixed a super-minor bug that prevented entering houses.

Btw, the minimum Java requirement to play the game is 1.6

Cool little game here. I really liked all the dialogue. Some more significant variation in the look of the different people would help me recognize who I was talking to and who I needed to turn into more easily. That may be just because I'm more of a visual thinker, but keeping everyone's names in my head was a challenge.

Haha, I first thought it would be a game where you should take notes for the clues, but if you could remember everybody's names that's great :)

Neat concept! I like the loopy music, and the dialog between the players! Nice job!

Nice game. You don't find a lot of games focusing on stories.

Well, game takes much more time then you expect. And you really need taking notes. And some people are weird. Had fun!

Cool game! Could really use some sort of tutorial though. I had no idea what I was doing and what my goals were, what causes suspicion etc.

Wow, unexpectedly extensive game that betrays its (sorry) rather dopey looking graphics at first glance.

Those goofy triangles do grow on you though.

We stole ~75000 worth of goods. I've got to say it again, really complex and nice work for making it in the time limit of the Ludum.

There were some logic issues like "Who is X" 'X is a writer' "Do you know anything about X?" 'I don't know who X is'
Fun game otherwise, like the others said remembering names was a bit challenging.
