I just didn't use my time effectively -- by the time I had the player able to climb the ladders and worked out most of the weird bugs (you can still dance on top of ladders if you hold down the up button XD) it was 4 am on monday -- and I had to work in the morning.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Right now it's basically a limited engine. I ended up stealing the base of the stick figure code from an old SpeedHack entry I'd done (technically that source is on the web and anyone can download it...) ;-) -- but that was a huge time waster...\r\n\r\nIn the end, somehow, I ended up with a platformer where you can run and jump and climb ladders... I kind of started heading towards: Well maybe if enemies spawned every \"10 seconds\", and it was a shooter?\r\n\r\nBut 4 am hit, and I have work today, so there's no chance of finishing anything more than just what's here before the deadline.\r\n\r\nI'm hoping to keep working on this outside of Ludum Dare, it was a cool start... \r\n\r\n\r\n***** GAMEPLAY GUIDE: *****\r\n\r\nIf you press F1 it will toggle the help screen shown in the Screenshot (it's on by default, so press F1 to make it go away).\r\n\r\nFYI. That second \"screen shot\" is just a zoomed-out view of the full map -- it doesn't appear in game anywhere (it was rendered by the game with a hack, but the hack has been removed, so you can't trigger it). It's there as reference screen shot, so you know what to expect.\r\n\r\n\r\n***** DOWNLOAD GUIDE: *****\r\nThe download links are up at the top of the page, as for which one to choose, the \"Windows Setup\" package is the way to go!!\r\n\r\nThe \"Windows Setup\" package installs ALL of the prerequisites. (It contains the XNA redistributable, that's why it's > 6 MB; it will also download and install* .NET 4.0 if you don't already have it.)\r\n\r\n(*: there's not much in the way of progress reporting here though, if it needs to install .NET it may just sit at 50% for about 5 minutes -- I have no control over that -- just let it run -- if you already have .NET, the rest of the install takes less than a minute).\r\n\r\nIf you're ABSOLUTELY SURE that you already have .NET 4.0 and XNA 4.0, you can download the \"Zipped Bins\" zip file isntead.\r\n\r\nAs for the source code, it's a Visual Studio 2012 C# solution using XNA 4.0 (which doesn't work by default, you have to go hand edit some XML files before it will open\/build [see: http:\/\/stackoverflow.com\/questions\/10881005\/how-to-install-xna-game-studio-on-visual-studio-2012]), and the installer is done with WiX.\r\n","title":"Click Click Boom!
