The enemy ships as well as the player ship felt like they had a bit too much HP, but that was mostly fine. I feel that this could be huge if the ships had a bit less health but conversely it was a bit easier to avoid enemy shots. Nice work!"},{"author_name":"Hankenstien","author_uid":"80263","time":"Apr 20, 2016 @ 2:15am","epoch":1461118200,"text":"Now that was fun!  it takes a bit to kill the ships so you don't really get into the game for a bit. The biggest thing that it needs is feedback. Overall, a great entry!"},{"author_name":"Ironhead","author_uid":"89786","time":"Apr 20, 2016 @ 2:24am","epoch":1461118740,"text":"This was pretty great! Ships were pretty cool graphics were good and gameplay was fun. Definitely missing some good SFX though and the text was very small and difficult to read on my 19" monitor. The whole experience felt like a lot of doing nothing. When I was in big battles it felt a lot better,so maybe if you put things closer together and die quicker. With such great music, I would think some sound effects would go a long way as well."},{"author_name":"Jungle","author_uid":"48998","time":"Apr 20, 2016 @ 2:28am","epoch":1461118980,"text":"I really LOVED the concept but the game is too laggy and uses a lot of processor. I'd be more than happy to give a second look if the lag is remedied, though I will say that even as it stands now this was impressive for a Ludum Dare submission. This turned into something a little more than I really wanted to do, and far too much scope creep for 48 or 72 hours.  So it turned out to be a great concept for a game.  It fell somewhere between a space shoot em up and a tower defense game.\r\n\r\nGAME: Defend your planet from invaders arriving in carriers (Mini map red).  Your allies will aid you as much as possible (minimap blue).  \r\n\r\nShifting Aspect:  You can shift between forms if you have enough spirit (bluish bar at the top of the screen) by using the 1-4 keys. There are four forms that confer different abilities.\r\n\r\n1) Warrior Form (Basic) - Has decent speed, maneuverability, and above average weapon. But it is light on armor.  Luckily you can regen life and spirit (slowly) while in this form.  Life is restored to any nearby friendly warriors while in this form.\r\n\r\n2) Thunderbird Form: Little more than a speedy way to get from place to place. Virtually no armor, a pea shooter weapon (with a spread), and poor maneuverability.  If you call your warbands to aid you though, they will be able to utilize the great speed and arrive quickly.\r\n\r\n3) Tortoise Form : Heavy armor, powerful but slow weapon, but very very slow and poor maneuverability.  Great for taking down carriers when they run out of fighters to launch (x2 Damage).  Enemy fighters that run into you die.\r\n\r\n4) Crab Form : Bristling with guns that do lower than average damage.  Medium armor and speed.  Great maneuverability.  It is good for taking out enemy fighters in mass. It does slow down the enemy carrier when you are near one.\r\n\r\nYou may call friendly tribe members to your aid by pressing E and spending a little spirit.  If they are already too close, or engaged in combat they may not come to you.  There is no real control over who will come however.\r\n\r\nYou can visit your home planet to heal up.  Your warbands will do the same if they can disengaged from combat.\r\n\r\nIf a carrier reaches the planet, you die or all your warbands are destroyed.  It's game over.    Carriers will get slightly stronger each time a new one  spawns. There really is no win condition as time didn't permit much effort towards one.  \r\n\r\nTools used:\r\nBlitzMax\r\nCorel x6\r\nAudacity\r\n\r\nAll graphic assets were completed by me.\r\n\r\nNo audio was added due to time constraints except for background music.\r\n\r\nMusic by Kevin McLeod. http:\/\/incompetech.com\/\r\n\"Drums in the Deep\"\r\n\"Firesong\"\r\n\"Night of the Owl\"\r\n\"Phantom from Space\"\r\n\"Round Drums\"\r\n\"Stormfront\"\r\n\"Tikopia\"\r\n\r\nVersion Update - LD1.1 4\/20\/2016\r\n* Balance Pass\r\n* Fixed Enemy AI not targeting Friendly AI when player isn't around\r\n* Fixed Carrier Shield. Shows up now and properly stops damage till all fighters are dealt with\r\n* Adjusted Player Life from testing levels to normal levels\r\n* Reduced the size of the hit graphic\r\n* Increased planet regeneration for player life\r\n* Reduced number of Friendly Warriors per Warband\r\n* Fixed full screen - Game should be in full screen mode now\r\n* Fixed carriers not giving spirit to player when they destroyed\r\n* Fixed Kill Counts overall\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n","title":"Star Tribe"}
