Roterra Shift by ohmmus

[raw]
made by ohmmus for LD35 (COMPO)
You are on the planet Roterra gathering up your life tokens that were stolen from you.

Grab all the hearts on each screen and move your way through the planet by moving to the right of the screen. The planet attempts to keep you confined by shifting itself, keeping you in the same spot while you move about the terrain.

Arrow keys and Enter to choose buttons. Escape works during gameplay to exit to the main menu.

This was my first compo entry and I really enjoyed it. The 48 hours was a bit of a shock after previously always having 72 hours! I do like the 48 hour deadline though, I really forces me to make better decisions about what goes in and what gets cut. I learned a lot making this game, and I hope that it brings a few minutes of enjoyment to you.

I could use some feedback on it as well. As an added bonus for feedback, I'll rate and comment on your game if you do the same for mine!

Enjoy!

interesting approach I liked the rotation of the game itself and controlls felt good, I got stock for a moment on the third or fourth level, but got past it after a while :-) good job!

The controls are WAAAAAAY to floaty, especially when being killed sends you all the way back to the beginning. The cube effect is really neat though. I do wish that it impacted gameplay more than a 2D screen change.

The controls could have some polish, but the turning level is very nice.

I like the rotation of the game but the controls seem a little to floaty.

Cool rotation mechanic, but the slippery controls kind of ruined it for me :(

Ha! I won! I had fun playing. It would be nice if the rotation was more integrated but I think the idea is very good!

Great job with the level rotation transition, it's a very nice effect. The controls feel way too slippery and you can easily miss platforms way too easily though.

As others already said, controls feel maybe too slippery, but the concept behind it and the screen rotation thing is pretty nice! :)

Love the rotating effect when switching levels :)
Nice art and audio also, but I wish the controls were more responsive. The first few tries, I slipped and landed into the fire more than I wanted to. Beat the game after some trial and error though! Short and sweet.

Nice entry :)
