Dance Dance Pathogen by SnedHlepPls

[raw]

DON'T match the colours!

A game made my myself and AvinashD for Ludum Dare 35, with the theme of 'shapeshift'.

You play as a pathogen under attack by antibodies. Your objective is to keep them at bay for as long as possible by altering your antigens to the incorrect colour/shapes so that the antibodies can't latch on!

Windows executable and source code available from webpages below.

Demo video here: https://youtu.be/ptmT_XZhqZg

Controls:

Change antigens:

Triangle/Red: 'a' or 'j'

Square/Green: 's' or 'k'

Semicircle/Blue: 'd' or 'l'

Rotate antigens clockwise: spacebar

DON'T match the colours!

Nice variant on the rhythm game concept that I haven't seen before. Takes some getting used to, since you have to think opposite of DDR, and once you start failing it adds in the rotation mechanic.

A very innovative concept, and the game is fun as well :-) I liked the music.

The game is hard too, especially once you have to use the rotation mechanics as well. I usually did not live long after losing my first antigens :-)

Nice take on the standard rhythm game, took me a while to wrap my head around it but it plays nicely. The graphics aren't really my thing but match well with the mood that you want to create together with the music. Overall a job well done I would say!

kinda wish i could move around, it plays nicely once you get the hang of it even though I believe it becomes quite hard quite fast! Nice job !

Very tricky but incredibly fun once I got the idea. I loved the music and pulsing HUD the most. Great work :D

That is quite a smart idea for a game. Visuals and audio might use some polishing.

I totally enjoyed it :)

I love that it's the reverse of every rhythm I've played - Trying to avoid matches! I noticed the antibodies are timed to the beat, but I didn't feel it enough. It felt like the antibodies didn't have a pattern to them which matched the music. The bouncing HUD was an excellent effect: maybe it could have been applied to the antibodies too?

Surprisingly hard! Very fun overall. Great idea. I did notice that the UI does not scale properly when in full screen, at least for the How To Play Window.

So, my brain exploded... But otherwise, fun little game. Felt like it was almost a rhythm game but it doesn't seem to quite line up with the music. Maybe that's just me.
Anyway, good job! :)

Yeah it is, Skruffye, but that's what we get for only testing our game inside Unity. Lesson learnt :P

Fun once you get the hang of it, very very difficult though. Purposefully not matching the shape does not come naturally although I know the other way around would not be representative of how real anti-bodies work. I Enjoyed the music, sick riffs. And the facial expressions added massively to the mood, also it wouldn't be half as good without everything pulsating!

pretty cool game, and a fun fact, in the beginning of the jam me and my group thought something like this.
