Secret Admirers of the Forest by orion_black

[raw]
made by orion_black for LD35 (JAM)
Secret Admirers of the Forest is a mini Coffeebreak roguelike focused on tactical positioning. I build it for both the Low Rez Jam(hence the 64x64 resolution) and Ludum Dare. The Ludum Dare version is a bit more polished, so don't get confused when downloading. It contains a readme with controls and some tips on how everything goes.

There are some abilities(5) that depend on you current shape, I think they are really OP.

That was really fun!
I wish there was a key to skip your turn, as I'd often take the initial hit from an enemy diagonally away from me, and my powers would be on cooldown.

Didn't make it further than the 3rd room, but had a good time playing a handful of attempts :)

Love the pixel art and music also.

As short as it was, it was great! The shapeshifting mechanic confused me a little bit, but overall, great job!

A neat idea but a bit hard to figure out- such is the nature of LD games! I found the (debug?) feature of clicking to spawn enemies, so each turn I would just relocate all the enemies to a corner and (try to) waltz right for the exit. Unfortunately I kept getting stuck behind invisible walls.

Nice work for making a roguelike.

@El Cabaro Nice catch, I totally forgot to remove that function. It was precisely that what caused the invisible walls bug.

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

I like that the game was really chill and fun to play. I also didn't expect it, but I liked that the game window was tiny. It really makes me want to make a game that you can kind of play in the background while your doing something.
