Shiftrix by stephenb12

Shiftrix is a game about matching shapes. If you don't match or let your shapes go you will shapeshift. At that point you need to start collecting whatever shape you became and hopefully one of those doesn't hit the bottom and start another shift.

Controls:
WASD, Arrow Keys, or Joystick (It works very well)

Known issues: The WebGL Version is a little wonky. The instructions don't show up and there appear to be other loading/studdering issues.

This is my first Ludum Dare competition. I kept the game simple based on all the advice I read and I'm glad I did. I don't think I could have gotten away with any more at this time.

I'd love any and all suggestions for areas to be improved as I know there are many but if there is anything you liked, that would be great as well.

Couldn't get past first level, but it was fun :P It's a different game, I like the idea. It's weird in the middle of a transform though, I mean whatever I pick up at that time, decreases my power. Overall, it's quite cool!

Fun little game, bit strange at the beginning, but game is very well done. WebGL build works just fine.

Good work on the theme. I think it's a bit hard when you are damaged to know which shape you are. Because it 'morphs' I don't know if I should collect the colors or the shape, perhaps it would be better if you just picked a shape/color instead and let the player chase it.

Fun concept. Grab grab the shape that you currently are. WebGL build works nicely.

Pretty cool concept! I had the most difficulty when in the middle of shifting, since I couldn't know what shape I was. Maybe when shifting, the screen clears so the player has enough time to figure out what his/her new shape is? Other than that, good work!

Simple and fun game, but it has to be more challenging and when you miss one shape it is likely that it screws up your whole game, because you fail again and again, because of the transforming, which should also be faster.

I found the shapeshifting itself cool, but other than that, there didn't seem to be much to the game.

I think it was a surprisingly innovative and fun game for being such a simple one! For me the game was essentially about collecting shapes in an nonstop succession. So I wonder if maybe the player should only be punished for interupting a streak, rather than being punished for not having cat-like reflexes. Good work nonetheless ?

Simple, but fun and challenging. It seems pretty easy until you miss one, that transition period when you change shape is difficult. If you made that transition a little easier, for example by destroying the currently active shapes to give you a couple seconds to catch up, I think that would make it easier to balance the difficulty.
