Marked For Death by 1qgl

[raw]
made by 1qgl for LD35 (JAM)
Orwellia is an aggressively monochromatic and impeccably authoritarian state. You are a dissident spy, in the capital city on compromised mission. After being perused for some time, you find yourself in a busy square with no where to go. The government is sending their finest to track down and eliminate you: knife-wielding, shape-shifting robots. The purpose of these machines is to blend in with the surrounding crowd and hunt you down. Attempt to evade your pursuers for as long as possible.

Controls:
WASD to move, mouse to look

This was my first attempt at making a game. It was a great experience.

note:
*lighting is pretty broken in the webGL version, I recommend downloading the game if possible

I've played just web version, no problems with lighting, but a bit with controls, and audio. Apart from that the idea seems cool.

First time I played I was frustrated that I died and didn't understand why, then I read your description and tried again and noticed the subtle differences. It's a cool little experience. Very nice job as a first attempt at making a game!

Wow, this really has a scary atmosphere. Could use some polishing and maybe more locations, but overall a cool idea.

I love the eeriness of the game, I think the audio really helped with that. Very cool!

I like a lot the idea and the concept of the game.
Sounds are pretty nice too with the atmosphere.
Congrats on your first Ludum Dare, great work! And now more to come :)

Nice ambient sound. Creepy urban zone.

Death is a bit of an anti-climax; some animation would be nice, or camera stuff like turning to face the killer. Some stabby sounds could help a lot as well.

I wish there was some task beyond avoiding randomly moving enemies. Like, if the player could disable the robots (and maybe lose if they hit a non-robot)... or something. Yep.

It's a neat idea and a really cool scene, reminds me of the matrix. Kudos!
But can the game be won? I couldn't escape or find a way to get rid of the knife suites.

This could be a start to something really good! It's so creepy giving the visuals and audio/music. I wish there was running at least, but for your first game, not bad at all! I would continue with this project, polish it up and make more to it...a story, more characters, interaction and such. Good work :)

I feel that this has potential to be expanded on.
As it is, It has a great mood with the whole crowd and the tense music, but you don't really do anything except walk in circles.
