This is a game about erasing all the colors and getting your entire screen to white. The mechanics are vaguely similar to lights out, but with significant changes to the formula.

It can get very very difficult over time. The difficulty settings change how quickly it ramps up in difficulty.

I have included a "YouTube Commentator" difficulty because I have noticed the every YouTube commentator ever is bad at puzzle games. ;)

I have been told that I NEED to port this to Android. It wouldn't be that incredibly difficult. What are your thoughts?

Cool concept. Reset Level button didn't work for me, seemed kind of easy to screw the level up and then kinda stuck

Really cool concept! It's amazing how confusing some of the levels can be with only a few clicks.

I had the feeling that I'd eventually sussed it all out.

I was wrong.

And so we start with a high mark for fun.

Graphically, very solid.

Musicwise, I'm really hoping this was done during the compo, because I really like it.

...yeah stuff it, there's not much to say, really.

Although there's a bug (not included in the marking): when you click "Reset Level" and you're flipping stuff, it continues flipping on the reset level which results in an unwinnable puzzle, requiring you to reset the level again.

But yeah, very nice work.

The restart button just unpauses the game - you have to close and re-open it. Nonetheless, quite a good game AND the only fully Java game I've managed to run on my system!

@GreaseMonkey: If you have doubts about the music, realize that it's one of the default songs you can make with Garage Band, with a few of the instruments changed out (but playing the same notes).

It took about 10 minutes.

@The Reset Button Not Working:

I haven't seen the reset button completely not work personally. What I have seen is an infrequent bug where there will be some extra yellow tiles. It lets you win even with those tiles up. It's very odd and is going to be hard to track down since I've only personally seen it twice. It SEEMS to be related to resetting the level, though.

I don't doubt that there's a bug where it completely doesn't reset the level, just that I haven't even seen that one once, so it's probably going to be even harder to track down. Joy!

Not played lights out, so maybe it took me a moment longer than normal to figure it out? the colour rotation was pretty alien to me at first so I found a strategy of just looking for certain patterns of where to click, which got me through the first few levels but probably left me without the know-how to do the later stuff. so I was pretty lost at the end.

seems like maybe some more relaxing music would fit the game better? anyway, certainly a good puzzle! :)

Very nice. Regarding the blog post, I wonder if those recorded wrong first clicks might have been from the transition to the first level lagging? It didn't load right away and I thought it had frozen, so I clicked... just in time for the level to load.

You got quite a bit of game out of such a simple mechanic. I applaud you come up with this. I wish there was a level reset function that would allow you to revert the level to its starting state the first two times I played I got hung up on the second level and reset the game before I figured out the mechanics.

@hamster_mk_4: It was one of the last things I added, and it is stuck in an odd spot. Hit escape or make the game lose focus and you should get a pause menu. In there is a reset button. That pause screen is very ugly.

@jpverkamp: Did you use the HTML version? I don't see ANY lag on desktop, and for a while desktop was the only option. You could be right though for people on lesser computers, or after I posted the HTML build.

OMG I choose the commentator difficulty by mistake and got stuck doing 50 levels with minor variations. That's not easier, that's a grinding thread mill, just the opposed thing to minimalism. The "next level button" would be best placed at the center of the screen, it's a long travel to the corner.

You're the person! I loaded up the game stats and thought someone was trying to mess with me!

The difficulty controls how fast the game ramps up. YouTube Commentator was designed for just a few levels, enough to get a brief introduction.

These are how the difficulties work:

YouTube Commentator: Places 1 + sqrt(level)
Normal difficulty: Places 1 + level
Harder: Places 1 + (level * 2)

In the updated version, difficulty will be tied into the density of placement (it's harder when things are placed close, but not on the same time), the number of colors (it's harder when things wrap back around to white again, that obscures some of the patterns), and the size of the tiles (it's harder when the tiles are bigger, because things are more dense).

Sorry you went through that grind. Why did you play 48 levels if it wasn't fun? ;)

Really cool, but I got stuck after ~10 levels. I would devote more time to beating more levels, but I have other games to rate ;) If you make an Android version I will definitely play it some more.

@Cardboard An android version is now *definitely* in the works. As in, it's on my phone right now. And all the menu crapiness is getting fixed. And a third paintbrush. And maybe a new mode if I can wrap my head around how that would work.

Well, at first I enjoyed it, but not having a reset button (which worked), killed it for me. And having something like STRG + Z or show all previous click positions would definitely help. I managed to solve a level that looked nearly like in your second screenshot, I was really amazed of myself. I really appreciate YouTube Commentator mode, but how it's solved is not really smart, because levels sometimes don't get harder at all, but when you implement all the other difficulty settings you wrote in a previous comment, I think this mode will make much more sense.
