Pirate Guy by Skye

made by Skye for LD25 (COMPO)
Pirate Guy is a game where you shoot friendly airships for points! Even though you may get points, it gets harder as you go.

Nice one. Feels a little limiting with the cooldown on the gun though, but good job!

Nice game. Collisions could have been better. Nice sound.

A decent game, even somewhat fun, though I have some issues. The wreckage of the other battleships harms you even though you killed them, I'm not sure if that was meant to be. Also, the rectangular collision detection makes for very odd maneuvering. You can use rectangular collision detection, but try making the rectangles smaller. I feel you probably could have gotten away with pixel-perfect collision detection as well, so continue to push yourself harder and try that next time if the concept is as simple as this one. Keep up the good work and keep improving!

Nice submission that is a complete game. A couple of issues that bothered me. The collision was iffy and either pixel-perfect collisions or smaller rectangles would be better. Usually in terms of design it is better to have the player not get hit when they should rather than have the player get hit when they shouldn't. Having movement limited to just y is a strange decision to make because allowing both x,y doesn't add much to the complexity yet would make the game a lot deeper.

The controls felt strange to me and I don't like that the remains of other ships can still hurt you.

A decent game, a little more polish with the graphics and more variety would make it better though.
