None Shall Pass by cardboard

[raw]
made by cardboard for LD25 (COMPO)
===== GAMEPLAY RELATED =====
-Arrow keys move, spacebar attacks.

-If you (or a knight) are hit when pulling your sword back after an attack, you will take damage. You can use this strategically if you want (it isn't a bug, I meant for it to be this way). You can also back off the screen to stop knights from attacking you, ie: pause.

-There are three types of knights (all wanting to go on noble quests) that are designed (poorly perhaps) to be defeated using different strategies: coward, brave, and heroic. Each has a slightly different AI. This was my first time ever coding AI.

-Get a lot of kills and beat the waves of (somewhat) varying difficulty to beat the game.

===== NOT(GAMEPLAY RELATED)======
-This is my second Ludum Dare. I am content with my creation :)

-The sprites were made with plasticine and photographed (then edited).

-Comments and critique are always welcome.

Overall nice, its just a bit short and repetativ, but its finished and polished!
btw: running fine on my computer its just found a bug that gives me a kill per second if I stand on the very left and hold space down

Awesome style! It seems if I walk to the far left and keep the space key pressed, I can pretty easily beat every knight that attempts to come through though. There doesn't seem to be any cooldown period between clashing swords and starting an attack again like you described (maybe because I'm holding the space key?). Either way, great entry!

I love the look of the sprites, and how well animated they are. (For what they are composed of!)

That first jousting knight nearly killed me. I was lulled into a sense of killing the easy ones...

Nice graphics and audio. Gameplay was a little bland.

Really nice graphics and animation. Some more attack controls would be nice but overall impressive for 48 hours :)

The screenshot look really nice! But I am having problem when I try to run the game.
It say something like:
The version of this file it's not compatible with your windows version. Check it out for a X86 version or X64 of this file (I am sorry, I have to translate the error message because was in spanish :P )
My system: Windows 7, intel i5, and nvidea graphics card.

I am pretty sure I fixed the problem with the .love file. Apparently capitalization of the library names when requiring them doesn't matter for the exe, but was causing errors for the .love file.

Easy to pick up, with a simple attack/punish feature in there as well. Maybe too easy, but polish is something hard to achieve in Ludum Dare. 4/5

Pretty nice graphics style, animation and sound. It was pretty easy and not that fun to play, though.

Pro: The graphics look wonderful and audio is above standard.
Con: The game is really easy: I got > 100 kils by just standing at the left corner of the screen hitting space.

LOVE THE CLAY MODELS! The game has tons of charm but unfortunately not enough 'game'. Thanks for doing something unique!

Love the graphical style, but the gameplay is a bit simple. Although I couldn't figure out what you meant above by getting hit when pulling your sword back. O_o

Lovely use of different materials. We were about to have a clay animator help us out on our game! Definitely adds charm.

Ah, great to see that you fixed the problem with capitalization. The graphics are really great! I wish the swords didn't block the character's helmets because the details are really nice.

Nice music. I liked the character art, but the sword programming and mechanics was too odd for me. Not sure why the sword couldn't just be anchored to the knight's wrist and rotate about that point? Nice start for a weekend, though. Keep polishing!

The sprites look really cool. I'd love to see more games done this way. This game was interesting but I didn't feel like there was a strategy. I could just stand still and mash space when an enemy moved into range and I had no problem killing everything without taking damage.

Music is great as well.

Monty Python is always a winner for me.
Plasticine graphics look nice and the music is good!
There is a way too be invincible by standing in the right place and just pressing space.

I made my first ever AI too in this LD. :)

Nice game but I would rather not use momentum based movement here. Also you can go out from the screen to the left and kill as many heroes you want. Oh, and it would be good if you use something other that SPACE for start or use a timer because when the game ends the player most likely pressing SPACE for some more time.

Amazing sprites and animations, too bad the fast nature of the game made it hard to see them well to appreciate them enough. Interesting mechanic too.

Maybe you could've added something that makes him look even more of a villain, maybe a hanged citizen or a locked damsel behind him?

There's something very unique and compelling about this game. I definitely think you need to work on the gameplay first and foremost. That aside, this is really promising.

Really liked the plasticine sprites. The combat system felt a bit weird at first, but it grew on me. Nice work! :)

Nice graphics, but the hit detection seems kind of off, I often seemed to have my sword sticking through another knight without hurting them.
