Amelie the Amazing Amazon by Matzigon

[raw]
made by Matzigon for LD35 (JAM)
Features:
=========

This game is about a young girl, Amelie, who on one day notices that she has the power to turn into a fierce and powerful amazon. Not just an amazon, an Amazing Amazon! Her bad luck is that this day is when forces of evil attack earth, and she is the only one to defend it. (At least the weather is nice and sunny. Who wants apocalypse on a gloomy day?!) Collect the souls of the damned, to tap your limitless power, and fight for your life!

Yes I know: Best story EVER! :)

The game includes:
- Actual shape shifting
- Randomized weapons (all different!)
- Two enemy types
- Crazy oldschool side-locked combat (Golden Axe anyone?)
- Infinite enemies
- My hair and tears

The graphics are from the unity asset store, as well as the music. So no voting on those two. But feel free to rate on the rest. I'd say there is plenty other categories, but actually only three.

Rules:
======

The controls are easy, WASD + Space, or configure it your way, it's made unity.
Collecting souls heal you a bit and even increases your max health. Also this is the way to turn into an amazon. Each set of souls give you 15 second of Amazing Amazon power and then you return to normal, unless another set is collected before. First a set is one soul, then two, then three... I thing you get it now, it's getting harder and harder. Not for the enemies though, they get stronger over time but only slightly.

The aim is to reach the highest score. Please if you try it, comment your best score. I'm curious. :) Also I'm more likely to rate your game if you rate and comment on mine. Just sayin'

One more thing: the game is big, I mean BIG. Like 260Mb zipped, even the the web version is like a 120Mb. The download version looks better with shadows and stuff.

This is a start of an amazing game. this game really lacks sound effects. i want to feel when i hit them mobs, and when they hit me. other then that this will be an amazing game with more work.

Overall it can be addicted but as one of the comments below mentions, it would be nice to have some sound effects of hitting the enemies but I guess I can't judge on sound since my game doesn't have any at all XD

It's a great start for a good hack'n'slash game.
Looks nice too.

This is a pretty good game. It is a simple and to the point beat em up.
Sometimes I had the feeling, though, that collecting souls made me shift into a weaker character (needing more hits to kill a mob).
I think the choice of music and graphics produces a nice overall atmosphere. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow. Cool beat em up... With sounds and some polishing at the controls it would be much better. But I like the artworks very much. Good job!

Get 57 though killed myself after it got a bit too tedious :/
Beat em' up is not my kind of genre.

You could have done a better job on finding assets that fit together.

Otherwise, nice work!

Hope you had fun making it =)

With some juicing, this could be a really great beat'em up! I got 57 and died on a mountain of bodies like a champion. It was awesome.

That was a wild ride. You may have used stock assets, but what you did with them was quite awesome. I really enjoyed that!

The game was alright was definitely fun but didn't use theme that creatively and became a bit tedious over time. Over all its good.

Whew, good thing you said about the game size, I thought it crashed, but it was still downloading :D

Nice work, if a bit on the short side :) It was a bit of a mystery to me when I was successfully hitting enemies (maybe add some flashes or sparks or something :) )

I liked that you had a few different transforms!

Good work! I liked the gameplay, but I think sound effects would make this game truly shine.

Get 65.:) I think the scenario is too big to not provide variety. You could have reduced and so save on MB. Anyway, I liked, and I miss a final boss :)

Nice work! The game works fine, and having different weapons throughout it is a nice touch. I would have enjoyed better feedback on fighting, like particles/sound effects when we land a hit or take damage, maybe some text indicating the damage we did...

The game looks good and the graphics are quite cohesive for a mashup of existing assets! And having metal music on top of that amazon fighting game reminded me a bit of Xena: Warrior Princess :P

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

Nice beat 'em up! Though it does lack feedback, I don't know when I'm hitting or when I'm hit.. I got 139 points, and at that point it was a bit repetitive... Anyways good work!

Vaguely reminds me of vintage beat-em-up games. Needs improvements on animations and some variety in enemies and shapeshifting.

This is one of the best games I've played till now. Don't worry about the size, I would love to see this as a AAA game on Steam, it has got huge potential.
