Maybe that's why this game doesn't seem to fit the theme too well -- villainy *has* to be blatant, or else you're not a villain?\r\n\r\nABOUT ==========\r\nI was playing Tapper the other day at Barcade and it occurred to me how bad the multiplayer was: basically, one person watches the other person do stuff, no simultaneous play. \r\n\r\nOne of the reasons was probably because of the screen ratio \/ joysticks: the arcade cabinet has a very tall screen, which means they had to orient the bar counters horizontally to make room for all of the sprites. That meant a player needed two joysticks: 1 for movement, and 1 to pull-down to pour a beer. (For 2 player simultaneous play, the machine would need 4 joysticks!!)\r\n\r\nThe idea of a \"downward motion\" mapping to \"pouring a beer\" is very important. Fortunately, because 16:9 screen ratios are so common now, I can orient the counters vertically and now players just need 1 joystick each, and it still maps as \"down = beer.\"\r\n\r\nBUGS \/ REGRETS ============\r\n- sometimes, 2+ patrons will take the same mug... essentially producing a net gain of mugs for you, actually\r\n- patrons keep drinking even after the level is over\r\n- typos and stuff, ergh\r\n- I want to rewrite the script but didn't have time\r\n- it's hard to find music\r\n\r\nCREDITS =========\r\n- all art by me, most of it handpainted within 48 hours\r\n- Rokkitt font by someone else\r\n- music by \"Stormby\" http:\/\/ccmixter.org\/files\/Stormby\/39747\r\n- lots of freesound.org samples\r\n- some mechanics from \"Tapper\", but it's a very different game altogether with my rule changes<\/p>","title":"Barback"}
