This is a Html5 game built with Scirra's Construct 2 for Ludum Dare 24 "Evolution". Sound effects generated via sfxr, music generated via WolframTones. Kitty sound effect from AudioMicro free sound library.

Here it is, buggy but playable ! I strongly advice you to play the "Quick" class as the "Grab" system is still buggy as hell. More levels were planned, but that's all I could come up with in two days, hope you'll enjoy anyway.

Move : directional arrows

Special ability : space

"Grab" class : Space to grab (very very close to a still floating item, except red bacteriae - only while not moving)

"Quick" class : Space to thrust (only while not moving)

Tip : Eat white cells to regenerate life, avoid red ones.

I planned to add more cell types, but oh well, maybe later.


PS : There's a secret 1000 kittens achievement hidden in the game - probably inachievable by human means though.

Looks really nice. Having multiple classes is cool for how much time we had. The sound was pretty good too, I just found the game difficult to follow. Also, what's with the cat heads?

Cool, I like the physics. This is a decent, fun game! Great work! The only two points of feedback I have are that it that it might be nice to respawn, and that the game is a bit simple but time constraints, time constraints....

interesting, didnt find much use for the grab but the boost was nice controls made it hard at times to get through some areas though with the extra speed.

vicethal > What do ou mean by difficult to follow ? Was there too many interactions on the screen or the story didn't make any sense ? It dont know if it's obvious, but the intro shows the way life arrived on earth (thus sarted evolution), and the end what the world became from such tiny creatures. And the cats are just a reference to the 1000kittens theme from the voting.

mdkess > Actually you don't have to restart the game when you die, you should respawn by pressing any keyboard key on the game over screen...

Raptor85 > The grab function is really useful to pass through any wall of red cells without any damage, or to push something forward. Each class is meant to have some drawbacks, the fast controls of the "quick" class is meant to give you a hard time on tricky areas.

I like the graphics and the logo of the game.
I also like how stupid the final Boss is, and does not deserve his place in the evolution chain.

Interesting game play mechanic and very nice graphics and sound. I found it a little confusing working out what I was meant to do (that could just be me being dense) but overall very good.

juaxix > Well, you just have to use physics to progress from one screen to another, and fight the boss, that's the whole thing.

Interesting look!

Sometimes I would get stuck behind a couple of red bacteria and that'd kill me pretty quickly.
