__Story__
Did you know that everytime a new planet is born, it gets automagically populated by a bunch of colorful creatures ? Half of them are pure evil while the others are really nice fellows.

Ok you probably knew that already. But did you also know that everytime a new planet is born, the Evolution Master sends his devoted assistants to evaluate its potential ?

It's up to them to decide whether the planet will evolve towards good or evil. Basically what they do is destroy either the planet's cute or evil inhabitants. Whoever's left gets to rule the planet.

Are you up to the task ?

Inspiration Odyssey !

As others have said the artwork is awesome. All around the production quality is extremely high! On the other hand, I found the gameplay to be quite drab by comparison. I think you guys could build on your amazing presentation by adding more variation to the gameplay.

Stunning graphics, including the dynamic brushstroke trail! You really made this from scratch in 48 hours? Even the title screen image? I bow to your artistic alacrity.

While playing, at first I thought I had to collect red or blue. After a couple minutes, I guessed I would get the meter to center by alternating red and blue collections. Not sure what is supposed to come after doing that.

Stunning presentation! Graphics, audio and the double-world-gag are great. Nice work! (I guess it could use a bit more on the gameplay-side though)

Also nice how you integrated the website.

One of the most beautiful games I've seen so far. It was fun just to move around for a while, and peek behind the scenery as the balance shifted. I'd be interested to see this "evolve" into a larger thing.

Graphics are great. the Painterly swooshes and splats just fantastic. Not sure what it had to do with evolution though, and the gameplay got a bit boring fairly quickly.

Really great looking game, and an awesome concept. It did get quite hard near the end, but I ended up keeping the balance fairly well(something like 117 to 121). I might play this again later!

I think the global balance counter is great. Graphics look awesome! The song is neat but I think it's kind of cheesy to have a game song with lyrics.

Very beautiful! Music was nice as well. Playwise I just killed all the cute ones and after a while didn't need to move the mouse (much). Perhaps I wasn't playing the game in the correct frame of mind! ;-D Production values for this are very professional.

Wow, the graphics and sounds blew me away! The only suggestion I have is to somehow vary the game play a bit as it could get a little repetitive. I guess if it's more of a chill out/relaxing game where you enjoy the sounds and visuals, then it definitely achieves it's goal! :)

@All> Thank you so much this for this amazing feedback.

About the gameplay :
the aim was to create a very contemplative and relaxing game. Having something pleasing to watch and exciting to control was the first step.

Unfortunately we didn't have the time to implement the core gameplay : Chain, boost, level up and such features demands much more work in order to have a positive experience based on pure scoring.
We were afraid that death would crash the contemplative mood, so we've chosen to deliver a proof of concept that playing with the hero could be satisfying.
Rez, radiant Silver gun, ikaruga or journey was on our mind. but those kind of gameplay demands level design and fine tweeking.

maybe we will find some times to create an enhanced version and port it on touch devices.

Thanks again for all this feedback, it was a stunning LD.

The only issue with this is the somewhat dull repetitive gameplay. Everything else was awesome.

27. Aug 2012 · 13:03 UTC
The duration of the game is probably a bit too long and gets boring after 2 minutes: maybe the pace should rise faster to make the game fit within 1 minute?
Anyway, the overall execution is amazing & beautiful! :)

The visual design of this is fantastic. And I like the song. I also like the way that how everyone plays it makes a difference overall too. Could do with a bit more to do in game. Playing on a trackpad it was hard to control at first but when I'd hit a few of them they all seemed to go in a line and I didn't have to move so I sat back and listened to the pretty song :D

I felt really odd at playing this game. One of the reasons was I went, oh joy, another "autoscroller". It's pretty. Neat trail effect. I think there's a guy singing but I can't hear him that well. Oh, hey the little dude lags behind my mouse way too much but I completed a level. Um, that's all there is to the game? Aw.

27. Aug 2012 · 23:23 UTC
Gorgeous game. I was a little confused why hitting red made blue weigh more, then I finished and read that you're killing them. Makes sense but wasn't communicated too well in gameplay and I think collecting a population for the world could be better simply for communication reasons.

Also, I don't know how many people see the global stat tracking at the bottom of the page. That's really cool and the game feels awesome to control but I have to agree with most people that it gets a little stagnant with the lack of variation. I would love to see this game if you guys spent more time developing the chains, boosts, and leveling you mentioned.

The game looks beautiful, and the idea and concept is pretty cool. The game doesn't demand much user interaction however and this lets it down, by the end of the level I simple let go of the mouse and let the character do the rest. Really stand out graphics and atmosphere though!

Beautiful graphics and amazing music. I stopped playing before getting to the end, though; it wasn't much of a game. It ran pretty choppy on my Mac what with flash and so much graphic intensity.

For the 42 hours competition, you need to work alone. Only Jam allows teams. Of course, it's all about fun and the rules are not seriously enforced so it's not a big deal.

The graphics are beautiful, and I love the song. If you expand this, think about combos and also enemies or obstacles making it harder to collect. It feels a lot like Music Catch and I like it.

Amazing graphics, what is really nice is the paint line that gets drawn out and all the pattern you can make from clicking. The total stats from all of the games played is an interesting idea, it looks very balanced at the moment.

Absolutely amazing! I had no idea what I was supposed to, I just assumed I had to have a balance between how many blue and red creatures I ate. It's really simple, but the mood of the amazing graphical design and the sound design that collide creates an excellent atmosphere! This is brilliant.

28. Aug 2012 · 23:24 UTC
Unbelievable presentation, literally. I had to check your commit history just to be sure. The integration with the website takes it to another level. Bravo.

With that said, the game itself is incredibly boring. There is no motivation for action after you get over the (albeit very cool looking) paint brush and splatter effects, which happened well before the game ended. If the idea is to keep the balance between light and dark then all you have to do is nothing. If the idea is to have to choose between light and dark then it's a completely arbitrary choice because there are no consequences for either choice.

Having an open-ended game that let's the player set their own goals is totally fine (and often preferred) but when the players actions do not affect the game world in any perceptible way the result is total lack of interest.

Overall, despite the beautiful art and ridiculous polish, I left disappointed by the gameplay (or lack thereof). I hope your next game can find a better balance (see what I did there) between presentation and gameplay.

you guys obviously put a ton of work into this. really nice graphics, controls well. sadly the gameplay is pretty much nonexistent. i didn't bother to try, but it seems to me that you'd win if you just left the mouse in the center and didn't come back from grabbing that coffee. maybe the guys should move around? maybe they could fight battles across the line forcing you to do stuff to maintain the balance?
BrothersT
29. Aug 2012 · 11:42 UTC
It was alright... I mean the graphics were obviously great, and I do like the idea of seeing whether people generally go for good/evil but dammmn was that gameplay boring! seriously, there was nothing more you could do with all that skill going into the game?

BrothersT> No worries mate =)
as i said on my journal and here, we only had 48h.
the main objective was to create the proof of concept. the actual gameplay is purely contemplative aka it's an eye candy whose let your mind flow without real purpose.
I do have a very clear gameplay with chains, evolutions (actually your skin is changing when you do good or bad but no direct boost of stats) and much more.

But we sadly did not had the time neither the motivation due to 48 hardcore hours and a monday work waiting for us =)
BrothersT
29. Aug 2012 · 15:44 UTC
Yeah very understandable, the things you suggested to us were all things that we didn't have time to do as well. Don't know why it didn't occur to me to read your comments, instead of making you explain yourself again ;) I think it would definitely be worth trying to finish your original vision!

Majestic graphics, probably the best of all entries (I hadn't played them all). Gameplay had also interesting elements, but I found the controls quite challenging and not always did what I wanted.

If we put apart the wonderful graphics, there's something really interesting that goes beyond the game itself. The evolution here depends on how players are actually playing, and this is huge.
