Absorption by sgehlich

Absorption is a game about.. absorption! You are a dust particle and your task is to absorb other particles and to avoid that bigger dust particles absorb you!

Be careful, there might be red particles around. They will absorb you, regardless of your size.

Protect and improve (or evolve! Yes, there's the Evolution!) yourself by absorbing power ups. There are three kinds of power ups: Speed, Attraction, Protection.

But try it out yourself, it's available for everybody who has a browser. (I guess you have one, right?). Use Google Chrome for best performance and awesomeness. I had to disable some awesomeness for Firefox users. You deserve it!

Learn about the game mechanics in the Tutorial mode and try finishing the endless mode afterwards. (Haha, you can't finish it! It's endless! But I didn't get past LVL 7, so... try to beat that. Should be easy.)

Nice game. Encountered a bug in level 5. I collected a power up and was absorbed by a bigger one. But I could still steer this entity, although very slowly.

Spunkmeyer: Yup, that's a bug I could not reproduce pretty well, so I was unable to fix it. Thanks for the feedback though :)

Very consistent with its style and atmosphere, the sound really helped bring out the mood.

The gameplay was fulfilling and rewarding. Graphically it was nice, the addition to minor details, such as the small movement of shimmer on the particles.

Good experience.

A very good game with nice graphics and relaxing music.
Your game reminds me Spore at the cell phase.

Neat Osmos-like, i like the ideas of mechanics you added to the game, nice job for a 48 hour game :D

Wow, that was both extremely slick and very enjoyable. I'm hugely impressed you managed to get all that done and polished so well in 48 hours, great job.

Kind of pretty watching the colorful bubble float around and absorb each other. Needs some sound, though. Also, it totally reminds me of the first part of Spore.

Gameplay has been done many times in other games, but I do like how accessible the game is (uses only browser technologies, and is easy to play). Sometimes when you spawn you instantly die. No clear indication of when power-ups are gonna fail is annoying. When you're tiny, the camera movement isn't "tight" enough, it's hard to tell when you're going to run into things. The music fits the atmosphere, but gets very repetitive.

The tutorial was nice. Endless mode is a good addition to any game, but with the "level-based" gameplay, I have to ask myself why are there no other modes with different types of challenges? Another thing about the level-based choice, why levels? There seems to be no clear goal between any level other than sucking up a certain number of dust particles. I feel like a more seamless growth between phases would've more rewarding. You could encounter massive entities early on, but after a while you'd be the one eating them up.

Overall, it's a tried and true game type, one that's fairly fun and was implemented well, there are just a lot of minor things that bug me about the game. The graphics are nice, and you can tell you paid attention to detail, but gameplay is just too lacking to keep me really involved.
