Evolution Not Progress by saveferris

Very slow weekend. A simple, still very buggy Breakout clone, I tried to somewhat finish it at least... as my original idea was to have a game of life simulation as bricks which the player as "Prometheus" would have put into the universe in the first place (just for fun). Anyways, the original Breakout arcade game was done in hardware so this web browser's js engine interpreted game is somewhat of an evolution (still learning Javascript - it's fun!).

it works! the full thing wouldn't fit in my browser window, not sure if it is just on my end though.

Thanks, yes I actually finished a LD48 game, it feels good (although it's still very, very flawed) :) The problem seems to be developing on a 1200 pixel vertical display so the game window is 800pixel - borked that up too, sorry for that.

Was the gameplay this deterministic in the original? It seems like whatever I try to do, the ball follows the same few paths!
Could do with a small amount of randomness in the angle.
