The lighting system was really cool, as well as the backgrounds and some of the other effects. I really liked the variation in the sounds too. Very unforgiving later on in the game however. I also saw little use it the shield because it was so finicky and hard to control. The black ghost thingies were pleasingly creepy too. The gameplay felt a bit random and unfocused, however. The difficulty curve shifts dramatically upon hitting the last stage. Prior to that point, I wasn't even sure if you COULD die.
