AntZ Evolution by thesentinelcat

[raw]
made by thesentinelcat for LD24 (COMPO)
A kind of cannibal ant wants to dominate the picnic area. A specie of sugar ant that lives on site need to destroy the cannibal ant's lair.
You are a scientist who discover the pheromone formula of both species of ants.
Could you help the sugar ants expel the invaders?
If you prefer, you can help the cannibals feed themselves, or even watch the nature beauty...

TIPS:
1) Use water to block paths
2) More pheromone on a point, higher the probability to the ant go in that direction.
3) Use pheromone to help antz. Longer your mouse is down, more pheromone in the point.

Took me a while to figure out how to play it, the gameplay isn't very intuitive i'm afraid :(

Cute, Sim Ant type game. It wasn't very easy to figure out exactly how to "win"...

Kinda hard to figure out how to play.
Sounds were loud to me and really unexpected(startled me a few times), maybe some background music wouldve helped there

Yeah, I also am having trouble understanding just what it is I'm supposed to be doing. Seems like an interesting simulation, but needs a bit more guidance for the player.

Took a while to figure out what to do, and even after reading the help text, felt pretty boring. Just watching the ants and hoping they would go the way you want them to go. Cool concept, but needs really more work to be fun enough. Keep at it. :)

Interesting - I guess this is a sandbox type game. I couldn't quite understand how to play it, perhaps you could have in game instructions and objectives to make it clearer.

The ants don't move around very much, often going back and forth between the same two points for ages, so it can take a very long time with you just sitting and watching. I kind of like the idea but the game as entered isn't much fun. There needs to be more for the player to do so they can feel a bit more involved.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It was my first LD and I really expected that I would do more than I did.
Sorry for the sound @gabeochoa =/

Haha I think I failed with only one blue ant left. Could've used more sounds.

Kind of confused as to how I was meant to win, the sounds were very sharp, sudden and loud so startled me a few times, music during game play and maybe not as sharp would have helped, I like the idea, and with a bit more time, I could imagine this being a good game that I could spend many hours on

Hard to understand what to do, not really fun then. But a nice simulation!

Cool idea, but hard to get the hang of.

Reminds me of SimAnts - including the "what the hell do I have to do" factor. :-)

Some help texts would have been cool. The ants seem to move the hearts around, sometimes - but I can't figure out under what conditions.

it's kinda neat watching the ants run around doing their thing. not really sure what i'm supposed to do, though.
