StarwingZ by diki

[raw]
made by diki for LD24 (COMPO)
StarwingZ is a racing game in the spirit of Star Roads, WipeOut and F-Zero; race along constantly 'evolving', intertwining tracks that rough up your journey with deadly walls and life-saving jump powerups.

The .zip contains an HTML that runs the game; I could only test it in Safari and Firefox so far (and Firefox is missing out on the soundtrack), so let me know how it works for you. Thanks!

If it fails to run, please give the Web version a try - sometimes browser security prohibits web pages from using files from the local harddrive, but is fine with files from the internet :)

Very fun and really really addicting. A score counter would have been nice though.

Wow! This is very interesting! I love the endless "zooming" and "False-3D" perspective of the game. Controls are great, the jumping / sliding to a nearby route is a bit mind-numbing, but it's not bad either! Sounds we're decent too - good track to race to. A gliding sound for the ship's speed would of been nice, but I know that's a tricky one to implement!

Ok, this was really really awesome. I think I wasted like 15 minutes playing :D Even though there was no score or anything. I think adding that would be really nice. As well as maybe some other obstacles or things to collect. Please make this into a full game, it will be awesome :D

Really good feel, instantly playable. Also like the graphics especially the track. As some other people have said something as simple as a score would have made it much more of a game. Overall great job.

The game is somewhat cool. I remember to have had something alike on the C64. Did I? Kudos to have written this in javascript!

Nice, similar to Proun which I really liked and interesting to have the extra jump mechanic and multiple tracks!

Hey - haven't played your game yet, but please go back and check mine out where you get a chance. I didn't realize my upload had somehow failed.

Fun and addicting :)
It lacks a score system and I don't really see a rapport with theme.

Good job !

Pretty nice! I feel like this could use a post-LD version with some sort of scoring system, as well as maybe some upgrades.

Super cool graphics and audio that matches the tempo of the gameplay. It was pretty easy to figure out how to play and has this "one more time" feeling to it.

Man I almost had a heart attack when I discovered how to start the game (Should have read instructions first >,<).
Anyway... it's pretty good and really addictive. I don't necessarily see the link with the theme 'evolution' though.
Something that would be awesome is a scoring system!

Cool concept, awsome graphics (I just like old-style feel). I missed a goal for the game, thought.

Ohhh, I love this! The music, the speed, the split-second decisions... It can be hard to see where you're going sometimes when the sprites fill your screen, though. I particularly like the game-over animation and soundtrack, which is probably often overlooked :)
