Pixelomoeba by PickledBrain

[raw]
made by PickledBrain for LD24 (JAM)
Grow bigger and build your Pixelomoeba body as you are attacked by relentless parasites. Pixelomoeba is an action game with influences including, katamari damacy, and asteroids.

This is my first Ludum Dare entry. I created this game solo using: Axel (Stage 3d Flash Engine), Bfxr, and Graphics Gale.

Any comments or critiques are welcome. Thanks for playing!

I really liked the attack sound effect, but I gotta say I missed some music!

Spectacular design. Fits the theme great. If I were to suggest an improvement, it would be some additional challenges or power ups. Maybe some more graphical/sound effects/variations. Just something to add some variety to the mix. The enemies grow in numbers, but it feels kind of monotonous after a while - but it definitely has great potential.

That was definitely fun! I found a good strategy: when you get to the later waves and blocks spawn while enemies attack, leave one or two enemies alive, run away, and build yourself up as much as you can. Loved it!

Really like this one - innovative game play - like how it works with the theme - it took me a few times to figure it out and get the hang of it - quite fun

Nice concept. I found it hard to manage six keys at once - the turning was a bit much, but I'd probably get used to it with practice. More fluid mouse controls with ragdolling attachments and a fast pace could be awesome...

Pretty good! Although it needed a bit more depth or progression of some sort, called it quits after 140 score.

140? Dang BNeutral you're better at my game than I am lol. And yes you guys are right it needs more variety, different bad guys, and game elements to adapt to. I really appreciate your comments everyone. Thank you :)

Enjoyed this! It felt a little counter intuitive, but I had a good time all the same. I also liked the grabbing sound effect.

Interesting game mechanics, clean and solid game.

Could use some bonuses / more block types / effects for the different block types (e.g. higher speed the more xx colored blocks you have (if that was there I apologize, but didn't notice it)).

I had no idea what I was doing at the start - which I think works well in this game - as soon as I realised what was going on, I said to myself "this is a really neat idea". Well done :D

Very, very fun game! I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first, simply avoiding all the red ones for minutes on end and wondering when the wave would end, not realizing that I had to take them out with my blocks... :P

Fun gameplay! Nice smooth movement. Fast pace and have to keep your wits about you while trying to control the gameplay with 6 keys! Phew! Definitely had me wanting to keep playing and disappointed when I was killed. Mark of a good game.!

Really cool:) I liked the katamari-like amoeba growth. I only got about 3 levels in, but I want to keep playing more and see if there's anything more to the enemies. I hope there's more variety and behaviors, not just more and faster.
