The Door by Joanrelos

[raw]
made by Joanrelos for LD35 (COMPO)
The theme was Shapesift. I didn't want to make another platformer, so I made my own tribute to Charlie the unicorn.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people will not like it, but I'm also sure that I learnt a lot of things. This is not my style of game, damn, I consider it more like a poem than a game, but I'm pretty proud of it!

If you had fun playing it and/or you had the unicorn voices resonating in your head, I'll be thankful if you share it.

Thanks for playing!

Some really cool visual tricks! Loved the playfulness. I walked into the water and got stuck, I didn't get to see what was on that cool computer!

Interesting "art" game! I got really dizzy on this one. :) On some spots it was also a bit scary.

Kind of fell short in the end, a little disappointing but I feel like if you weren't on a two-day limit you could have made something that would interest me a lot.

Nice "art" game. :)
I like games, when they try to question the existence itself. The game reminds me about philosophy.

Had a smile on my face the entire time. Thanks for the unique experience. Reminded me of The Stanley Parable. Amazing how much life you can give to inanimate objects, isn't it?

Very trippy! I really like how you interpreted the theme. You did a great job of making the player feel disoriented, and the mood is excellent.

That was awesome! Short and sweet, very Anti-Chamber/Stanley Parable like. Great narration. Loved it!

Haha, I laughed, but I laughed with the game, not at it!

There were some cool visual tricks. I would like to play the game and not just be played over and over again. I do like the use of the environment changing behind your back mechanic, would be nice if it was more fluid. like walking around a corner opposed to just "oh now I have to turn around again". Keep making visual poems :)

I agree that the game was fun and playful, but it seems like you tried too hard to make an enigmatic game without reason. From what I saw it doesn't seem like the door really represents anything. Your best category for my rating was Mood :P

Note to everyone else: Don't walk in the water, you will get stuck.

Antichamber called, they want their mindfuck back :D
Pretty cool though, didn't see the shapeshifting

I like the tongue in cheek ending. I would have liked more of the areas to be as fleshed out as the island/hall of doors areas.

This was a weird experience, although the ways you find the door were really clever.

I like this kind of experimental thing, as you said, more like a poem. It is true that many people won't like it, but wth, if we don't take risks at LD where would we take them? So I think you can be proud of it :D Don't see the theme anywhere, though.

To those that don't see the theme, look closely at the shapeshifting map ;)

very interesting concept, I found the game quite enjoyable.
The art is minimalist but it suits the concept very well
overall a solid entry
