Battle of Creatures by JNI

[raw]
made by JNI for LD35 (JAM)
Battle of Creatures is a low poly top-down shooter where you control a small Robot with a gun. After enough kills you can transform into a golem, which can throw rocks at your enemies or a dragon which spout fire.
When you play the Golem, the Monster spawnrate is 4 times higher as normal and you can destroy trees and rocks when you walk over it.

The game features two types of maps: Forest, Desert
and different monsters: Running bombs, Skeletons, Robots with guns, Spiders and some Bosses.

The Robot Bombs are weak and quick cratures which explode when they are hit but do not any damage otherwise.
The Skeletons are balanced Monsters.
The Robots are strong and armored creatures which shoots bullets at the player.
The Spiders are big and slow creatures with normal damage.
The Skeleton King is one of the Bosses which is very slow and destroy trees and rocks. It dont make damage by itself but it throws many skeletons.
The Bomb Boss is a fast creature which throw Bombs.

Amazing amount of work on the graphics in such a short amount of time. Classic arena with very well developed enemy classes. Top score.

Beautiful graphics. I love how things break apart when they are hit!
I kinda didn't feel the need to shapeshift though.
Oh and great audio too, very epic.

Really good game, and pretty amazing that you were able to make so many assets and yet still get things so nicely balanced and playable in such a short time.

Love the colour style used, very vivid. Also like how the bullets can deflect off into the air, that's a nice touch!

Thanks for the positive feedback. My head is full of ideas for the concept and I will definitely develop a game like this one with more content soon.

Pretty awesome, how did you do the crumbling physics effect, that was my favorite part!

Great game man! I love the art style and the models. Music is pretty good although I didn't like the one for the golem, but thats mostly personal preference. I had some issues where the projectiles did not properly register the hit, but otherwise very fun game.

@uvwar There are two models, one is normal and and one is split into smaller parts. When an object is destroyed, it will spawn the destroyed version with custom physics.

@TysonEX Thanks for reporting, sometimes the projectiles don't hit the enemys, but it looks like. This is caused by the spawning position of the bullets. They doesn't spawn at the center of the player, so they doesn't fly to the mouse position, they fly forward from that position.
But I will look into the source, if I missed something.

Very cool little game. Love the lighting and music, although the golem seems a bit overpowered and the dragon a little underpowered to me :P

Keep up the good work!

Good graphics and music, but I don't understand the "shapeshift" idea in this case. Anyway I like it!

Nice graphics, and a neat little gameplay, I thin the dragon is to underpowered, those other two are fine.

Nice visuals! The crumbling effect is pretty sweet. Music was pretty good too, good job overall!
I was able to fall off the level though, not sure if that was intended.

Great stuff! The game looks nice, especially the enemies falling apart. I like the level select in the menu as well. The difficulty definitely starts to show when the robots show up. The music switch between forms is also a nice touch!

I stopped playing because my hand had had enough clicking (though the dragon relieves some of that) and because the kill/hit sound really got to me. I also didn't use the Golem often because I found his attack unreliable against the smaller enemies, perhaps that's a good thing though.

i liked the lightning a lot.

the only thing that felt a bit weird was the camera. when i moved around a lot it was too slow to follow me and my character ran off screen.

It looks really good but the controls doesn't work at all. I just move, The gun shoots occasionally and I can't change of shape
