Praegressus Bellum (Evolution War) by thetyk1337
PREREQUISITES-
-Python 2.7 and it's respective stable Pygame release must be installed.
Hello hello helllloooooo developers, this is my first Ludum Dare. Also, my first heart attack. You see, I was in the middle of the development of a clever, smart, smooth comedy puzzle. However, like all good things that happen to me, I encountered a problem with it and therefore gave up on it and tucked it away in a dark corner where I was sure to never see it again. Meaning, my "Open This Folder When I get a Girlfriend" folder.
Anyway, second of all, the INSTRUCTIONS and DEDICATED TO NEIL ARMSTRONG text files are blank. That is because I realized I forgot to fill them out after I had already compressed, uploaded, and shared my game link, and am too much of a lazy bum to update it. So I will just write those here.
SUMMARY-
-This is a local multiplayer game where the 2 players control a blue single-celled organism, and a red single-celled organism. The objective of the game is to collect 10 black cells, which will randomly appear at random locations on the screen. The first organism to collect 10 cells will evolve straight to the age of Space Flight. My innovative Indie game element is that if the 2 cells touch each other (bow chicka bow wow), they BOTH will lose ALL their cells. By "touch each other" I mean fully overlap one another- one organism can go halfway through another, for example. This gives a nice twist to the gameplay where one has to avoid the other player while trying to race them to the same spot. This can lead to some very Scooby-Doo chase scenes.
-To move, the players mash their WASD or arrow buttons, depending on the player. The faster they mash the buttons, the faster they will go and the more they will complain and not play this game anymore.
-An announcer, who I like to call "Very Low Budget Crappy GLaDOS", will announce things at specific points of the match.
-Though there is no distinct Multiplayer or Singleplayer mode, if you have no one else to play with, try to keep the balls as close together as possible and to follow the black ball. Make sure that the balls are touching(without one fully overlapping the other so your score doesn't get reset), while still maintaining a speed to follow the black ball with. If the organisms overlap or disconnect, you lose. Ambidextrous players will have quite the advantage.
INSTRUCTIONS-
Player One(Blue/Smurf)-
W-Up
A-Left
S-Down
D-Right
Player Two(Red/Commie)-
Well, the arrow keys.. You know.
Lastly, I would like to dedicate this game to Neil Armstrong. I find it tragic that the theme was Evolution, and man who helped in the evolution of science and technology so much as Neil Armstrong passed away. Rest in peace. You were the very first to leave this world, and you do it now once again. Safe travels, Commander.
