Death to Polys by hugheth
An arcade game where you star as a deviant Scaffold, protecting the illegal junk trade from the ever encroaching police so you can get your fix. My first Ludum Dare submission and first ever 3D game :D Hope you enjoy!
HINT: You can capture buildings with scaffold at any height, meaning you can reduce the risk of the buildings getting in the way - it just means you have to nerd pole higher every time to collect your junk.

It seems to crash occasionally for no discernable reason. I'm not sure what to make of that. Luckily, the Reset button still works, so it's easy to reset the game when it does crash.
Seriously, nice game, lovely soundtrack. Yeah, I can confirm bug at the edge. Also I think buildings spawn a little too fast and generate metal too slowly, I ended up being trapped multiple times, but that means you got me to play multiple times. Good job!
I like the graphics with a nice choice of colors, the music with the effort behind it and the original idea.
I found the gameplay a bit slow; with the police moving on their own, smoother controls would help playing cat and mouse.
Great work!
In fact i can see a lot of positive effort to earn points here, but the game was annoying, hard to understand and play, and just awful for me personally. Don't feel bad about my honesty because games like this have their audience and im sure you have plenty based on comments so far.
I really like that idea!
Otherwise I quite enjoyed the silly music and visually it was very striking. I could see this being developed further into something more coherent and enjoyable.
If you want another hint - you can still capture buildings once they've grown by placing scaffold around them at a higher level. So as the game progress you need to make sure you grow your metal resources to be able to reach the higher levels well. I found that having common passageways a few blocks above the ground helped with this, and focus on capturing land rather than eliminating the police.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description
