End Humanity! by SFX
You are an invincible bio-mechanical nightmare of science, but you are not immortal. You're going to die very soon, but your larvae is numerous. Once hatched, they will wipeout most life on earth (especially the humans). However, those fiendish humans will try to murder your children before they hatch. Protect your cocoon from the humans. Absorb genetic material (and machines, because why not?), evolve, and grow stronger. End humanity!
Important things to know:
If you run Windows, the zip file will have everything you need. If you run Linux/Mac, then you'll need to install LOVE 0.8 to end humanity. If you get a "setSizes" error, then congratulations, you're running Love 0.7.2.
Also, there's a weird issue with the library I'm using for the GUI (gspot, because LOVE libraries have the best names). If sometimes doesn't register the first click when clicking on a button. However, the second click should work.
Controls:
WASD - Move nightmare of science
Left Mouse - Fire acid blob (uses energy & weak, but ranged)
Right Mouse - Melee attack (strong and not ranged, but doesn't use energy)
1 - Heal Cocoon (if you have evolved the heal ability)
2 - Spew Invisible Toxic Cloud (if you have evolved the toxic cloud ability)
Oh, and that number in the corner is the FPS counter. I ran low on time and completely forgot to turn that off. Many of the issues with this game are due to a lack of time. Sigh.

Anyway, I didn't rate your game, but it looks cool! Reminds me of this old game called Crimsonland.
I have to admit: the mechanics for leveling up your creature isn't too new after playing several flash games with paying something to get something better routine at each end of level.
A/ I posess a melee attack ( 2nd game )
B/ I gain EP by walking on those annoying little shade ( which delayed the game end )
For the first point I should have read instructions of course but for the second point I guess that more shiny sprite would make me wonder sooner what will happen if I walk on them.
The game balance is incredibly good once you know about that, I love the way you want to kill enemy earlier but can't take EP in time ( which you need badly in harder level).
I was also unable to buy first heal upgrade (200) at level 5-6 despite the fact I had 450+ EP. Nothing happend when I clicked and I was low on energy... I finally took missile upgrade and it worked.
hamster_mk_4 > It seems you need to learn step B/ to enjoy the full magic of this game :)
Melee seems like the best way to deal with all the enemies except the planes - so I went for pure speed upgrades until late. The damage upgrades for the gun don't seem to do enough.
I like that you can shove enemies out of the way :D
I like the game - slick mechanics, and while the graphics could certainly use some work, they work well for this. Good work!
The upgrades were fun, but I would have liked a bit more variety in the types of upgrades I could get. (For example, a spread/multishot upgrade, or better cocoon armor, or whatever.)
Graphics are OK for the time spent. :) Graphics aren't too important in a game like this.
Impressed that you had any music at all, I didn't have time for anything.
Good work!
