One Small Step for a Man by Sup Dood

The new "condensed" version has the exact same content but with only 1 song included. All other game content is left unchanged as this is just for convenience.

The goal of the game is to make it to the wormholes (the big spirals) and those will take you to the next stage. There are 5 stages (after finishing the 5th, it takes you back to stage 1).

Controls
-----------
w, up arrow, or space to jump
a or left arrow to move left
d or right arrow to move right
r to restart the level
f5 to restart game
f11 to full screen the game.

You will need to download the Microsoft XNA framework to play the game. (many of you will have it already installed from steam)

I REALLY enjoyed this game ! I didn't know what to expect, this mechanics is in many LD entries but your level design was great. But i think i'm biaised because what I really love was the music, there is a strong "Explosions in the Sky" feeling, i think that your game shows how a track can add a lot in the mood & experience of the game. Also, fuck you ! That part was HARD > http://imgur.com/lc1MO at least it took time for me to understand how to pass it.

I guess that in a Comp submission it wouldn't work since that's not your track.

But nice job !

***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***

When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.

Please consider making a browser game next time.

A good game, great start, but when the level become harder it's quite frustrating to do not have a checkpoint! :)

Although I enjoyed this, I quit after being sent back to beginning a second time (I assume this was not the end as I had missed most of the puzzle)

Great fun, physics were a bit 'snappier' than I was expecting. Would have loved a transition between stages.
Congrats on getting the planet physics working in jam, that's really impressive!

In the last stage (I believe it is the fourth), the one with the moving planets and moving asteroids, the level is beat by going through the black hole. It was just an oversight we didn't get to correct as the black hole sends you out of a white hole, into a wormhole (end of the level). However, since our camera doesn't transition instantly, you go from the white hole into the wormhole (which brings you back to the first level since you have won) before the camera can even shift to the wormhole position to show you. So if by "being sent back to the beginning" you mean you the first level, then yes you completed the level/game.

68 mb seems really huge for this game.
The gameplay was fine nonetheless. Simple but with good level design.

Yeah, I need to streamline it. I will try and do so tonight. Right it is the sound files taking up so much room, so I will probably reupload it or provide an optional link with the same content but with only 2 music tracks instead of the 6.

Great level design. Felt like a simple mario galaxy meets billiards to me, and enjoyed it a great lot. My only comment will be that its a very big download, maybe you could lighten the file a bit, so people wont tire of downloading and move to another game. =)

The idea is good, but some things felt off. The gravity around the planets could have some visual representation as to what they actually do. I liked playing it but it felt a bit too static for the experience i was hoping from this concept.

The overall ideia was good (somehow a 2D Super Mario Galaxy) but it lacked visual feedback to the player about what to espect with some objects, radius of the gravity fields and some polishment: for example, if the character rotated with the gravity field as the axis, the jumps would feel much more "confortable" to the eye and the overall game experience. Good work, though, you should build up on that game idea :)
