70 seconds left by emveyh

made by emveyh for LD23 (COMPO)
That was one hell of a weekend. This game was made at the real live gathering at the spielmeister offices. Yes - that one with the free beer.
A few notes:
- Everything was made from scratch, no frameworks, no libraries, so pure javascript / html5.
- it's the second time i'm participating in the ludum dare compo
- Tested with the latest Firefox Browser, but should run in every HTML5 Browser

About the game:
You are a huge, tentacle-faced monster that feels like destroying a little city. You have 70 seconds till the government will stop you with nukes. Destroy as many buildings as you can.

Controls:
Arrow-Keys to move
x-Key to spit fire
m-Key to mute the music

Combo-Chain:
If your aiming for the Highscore you will have to keep that combo-chain alive. So always aim for the nearest buildings.

My Highscore: 74069, max combo: 126, try to beat that :)

Thanks for playing!

Had fun, and liked the design of the monster. The music fits the frantic gameplay.

Cool game, simple but great graphics and the frantic music pumps up the panic mood. it's pretty simple though and not really challenging because you only burn buildings, but it's really nice game build from scratch.

Thanks for playing :) Yeah, i would have loved to implement more cool things like power ups and actual enemys but since i had to travel home by train + work at the next day i couldn't use all of that 48 hours. But you're right, it's not that challening ... till you try to break that 160k score :D anyways, thanks for playing! :)

Not quite sure what this had to do with the theme, but the game is pretty awesome. If there was one feature that I could reccomend for you to add, it would be somehting to dodge/avoid, possibly with pickups. This is the most fun I've had playing a game all LD though. 4/5

I couldn't find the theme in a high role in this game, but the laid-back attitude and devastation made for it slightly. A small and fun game in it's simplest form, but I would've wanted some challenge from it aside from beating other's highscores :P

Wow, I didn't think I'd be able to fulfill my life-long dream of being Cthulhu destroying a city, although in my dreams it lasts longer than 70 seconds ;) great job! Better than a stress ball.

Nice game, maybe a bit repetive. But I love the 8 bit style!

Great pixel art, loved the creature design and decent sfx too, nice one! I'd be interested to see some other "threats" of some kind in addition to the timer?

Great style, love the simplicity and the learning curve to go from slowly plodding along burning a building or two to cruising around frantically demolishing everything.

funny little game - love the art
some running around little people to stomp on would make it even better :)

Nice game.

Also, I'm running around the city and spamming the fire key very fast - the game freezes with the browser.

Not bad. I like the graphics a lot.
The gameplay is very simplistic and you don't really get a sense of skill or strategy mattering much.

The sound is functional and the so is the music, but nothing too special.

But I'd definitely continue working with the nice graphics and concept!

Great fun! Awesome effort starting from nothing. Would love to see some kind of opposing force besides the clock. The graphics are great, gameplay very satisfying. 4 stars overall

Pixelart Chtulhu is always a win.

Really funny game! I'dont know if it was only on my PC (using latest Opera browser), but when I charged the attack, just before releasing it, it would freeze 1 second or 2. This happened randomly.

I enjoyed the graphics and feel of the game. It's pretty cool, but I couldn't enjoy it as much because for some reason I also had performance issues. It would freeze when I breathed fire.

Music was perfect for the theme. Wish there was a little more to do, but it felt really satisfying to burn the buildings for some reason. Good job!

I really like this game. Movement is nice and quick and the power meter for your flame breath adds a bit of strategy to it all. Good job.

I really don't see the theme in there, but was interesting. I just suck as making combos, but has fun nonetheless.

This was really fun, especially for how simple it was. Great work. The countdown and high score thing really upped the replay value. With some more variety (like enemies or powerups or a way to extend your time), this could be a really addicting little game.

Some giant monsters just want to watch the world burn.

I got 110,094 with a combo of 120 ;) The combo goes away really quickly, so although you can charge up the fire attack to go further, it's not really worth it. Also it might be better if you start the game in the middle of the city rather than on a corner. Could do with a bit more polish, but it's fun to play!
