Creature Collect by moop

[raw]
made by moop for LD23 (COMPO)
Swoop through space collecting creatures and delivering them to merchants.
Marvel at the chaos as a low orbit turtle knocks you off course.
Wave your hands in celebration and or dismay as you triumph over the world's twitchiest physics sim.

Tutorial included but parts of it are easy to miss so:
W - Thrust
A/D - Rotate
S - Reverse Thrust
Space - Engage tractor beam
Q - Release tractor beam

Was confused on first level for a bit since the "Deliver to merchants" graphic made it look like instructions and not a live ship. I like the idea and different creature types but you're right about the physics. :)

Quirky! I found that flying backwards was more controlable than flying forwards. Pretty fun! Well done!

Quite fun! It's funny when you lose control and just zip around like a pinball tractoring everything XD

that's pretty awesome. the controls seemed pretty sensitive, but the gravity and tractor beam parts were really cool.

Pretty nice concept. With a few sfx (even if basic) this could've been on another level.

Nice, took a while to work out what I was doing - agree with dokidoki in that I didn't initially realise the deliver to merchants graphic was the actual target, might be more obvious if the merchants had collisions on them.

Good fun though.

Liked the cratoony graphics. The gravity was a bit to sensitive for me but enjoyed playing it

This looks like it could be fun if you finished it. Love the whacky graphics.

Woah totally confused, but once i got the hand of it, it was really cool!

Hmm, I found the sudden bouncing quite annoying, and in fact sometimes all the animals just bounced off at very high speeds randomly off the planets

The graphics are pretty cool though, good job!

nice concept and graphics. Its very hard, I just managed to gather 4 on the same planet :)

Like the visuals and the way the tutorials are done. Controls were a little too sensitive.

Found it a bit disconcerting to bash against invisible world bounds (would wrapping work better?) but that was made up for by the ridiculousness of pinging chickens into space. Nice!

Pretty hard to control, which makes for some amusement. Whether that was the intent or not, you get points for humour :P Seems you can win by just catapulting animals into space and they eventually end up pinballing into a merchant who accepts the deal even though you were nowhere near them :D Tried really hard not to do this and play it properly, but chaos quickly ensues :D Great concept

Great concept but a bit confusing and I felt the movement was a bit out of control. I really loved how the planets had gravity but I think overall the physics could have used more work. Good work for 48 hours though!

pretty cool, with interesting mechanics and a sort of general undertone of humour that didn't really manifest as anything explicit but still set the tone well for the game. Was let down by slightly off controls and an admittedly hilarious but ultimately annoying physics system

Love the graphic style, and it's a funny idea. Controls take some getting used to.

It was hilarious how I could accelerate to a crazy speed (and launch the animals across space at similar speeds). Nice work.

a very nice game. good grapics and nice gameplay.

I always wanted to do a Game with gravity and after playing your game i think i will do it for the next time :)

And also its exactly right in difficulty and length of time to beat the game. Often good games in LD48 are just too short and the others... well you cannot play 1402 games for a hour ;)

Really neat graphics, and I like the way you integrated the help text into the actual backgrounds.

The physics is a bit crazy, I got a bit out of control and couldn't find my way back.

it's fun in a broken kind of way, almost as hard as lunar lander in that i was trying with surgeon like precision to guide my ship around only to have the slightest bump or disturbance wack me out of control and send the animals and me flying in every direction :)

The controls, the controls! My brain is on fire!

Clever idea. I felt like I kept hitting some kind of spatial distortion and getting all flipped around.

Physics tweaks would help.

Good idea

awesome idea. the physics got a little out of control, but it was manageable.

Nice one. I hade fun just roaming between planets. Didn't quite get where to deliver the animals. Nice space simulator with no sound, actually pretty accurate. ;)
The controls lacked a bit of ..control and was a bit too sensitive.

God! I was really enjoying the game until the physics went nuts and animals were pushed to all sides! Really chaotic and hard to hand the controls. But nice concept! I felt actually bad for not being able to play it properly (really liked the idea).

I found it hard to control the ship. The graphics are super cute!

I thought the theme was "Tiny World", not "Broken Physics" :p
It was pretty hard to control, but sometimes it was fun to just see yourself zooming around randomly.

I like the idea and the art, but the gameplay definitely needs some tweaking to be really playable. Just tone down the sensitivity, and the game will be much easier to keep track of. This is a good start though, and with some polishing, could be really fun.
