Nanonaut - an ambitions 72-hour jam entry for Ludum Dare #23.
Features:
* Stargates
* Randomly generated planets
* 5 different monsters
We are quite proud of what we have accomplished in such a short time, but there were a few features that couldn't make it into the game before the deadline. Most notably, an end-goal and persistent worlds. However, we do plan to continue working on this game and fleshing out all of its intended features in a post-dare version. For now, enjoy what we've completed in the past 72 hours of sleepless nights and no showers!
(controls and game notes are on the bottom of the game's webpage.)

this is a great little game - although it definitely could be improved (more features(weapons?) & better balance)
overall very well done
The mood was excellent, the aesthetic is consistent, the music was brilliant, and I love the general concept. Excellent work!
Sadly since in current state all you can do is randomly wander dimensions (I've tried about ten or more, never found any data) and you can't do much more then fight with monsters and enjoy mood.... If the actual combat would be better (clunky controls, shooting possible only while standing, making it really hard to kill some of the monsters and in not very challenging way) I'd probably stay at it more.
Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward to postcompo version.
Hopefully we will have more music in the fully fleshed out post-compo version. I am excited about this game!
Charming graphics, nice music, very cool concept. The combat felt a bit clunky however and there was a bug after I died the first time where my UI went missing. Also, the game could really use some driving goals behind it. Other than that this was quite fun and I love what you guys acomplished in the time you had!
I agree with the others that the controls can be a little clunky, but I know how easy it is to run out of time to tweak stuff like that. ;)
I think it's mostly because the character is limited to moving one square at a time (is this for a technical reason?), but during the time he's moving to the next square, you're "disabled" from moving in other directions or shooting.
You guys should join forces with me so I have some gameplay for planetary landings. ;)
Keep it up! (I'm also a sucker for space games, of course.)
My main issues were with the character controls (too slow & sluggish) and not really understanding what I was supposed to do on each planet that I visited.
Overall great stuff guys :)
Cheers!
